of McDonnell against the Traction
company the defense was closing Its

Attorney P. V. Gallagher, the com
pany's special agent. It was his In
itial speech In court.

ceived yesterday by County Treasurer
M. J. Kelly from Auditor General My
lln. At tile last session of the legislature,
It will be remembered, a supplement
ary bill was passed making tin increase
in all liquor, distillery and brewery
licenses In order to provide revenue to
meet the extra expense of the new
capital buildings.
Hy this new classification the license
of a letaller in third-class cities In in
ci eased from jr.00 to $.1.10; In boroughs
$50 Is also added, nnd In townships
there is an increase of $2.1.
Wholesale liquor dealers, rectifiers,
compoundeis, stoiekeepers nnd agents
nie called upon to pay u $300 license in
third-class cities; $200 In boroughs, nnd
$100 In townships. Bottlers are as
sessed as follow!: Third-class cities,
$3f0; boioughs, $210; townships. $100.
Hrewers' and distillers' licenses are

running from $250 for less than 1.000
