SAVED IJV A WOMAN.
A Detective's Story of His Cxporienco
Among tho Mollle Mrtgnlrcg.
From tho Detroit Kreo Press.
"You all remember the reign of terror
for which tho "Mollies" down In .the
mining region of Pennsylvania were
responsible," mused tho detectlvo who
always smokes a well-seasoned dudeen
In preference to a cigar. "I was with
tho Plnkcrtons then and a young hand
at the business, but they thought well
enough of me to send mo among ithose
bloodthirsty vllllans as assistant to a
Bharp old veteran of tho service.
Thero was never a tougher organiza
tion on eat th than those samo Mollies,
and I was Just foolish enough to re
joice at having a chance among them.
"My part was to mingle with tho
men, drink at the same bars.flght when
the rough code of tho Mollies required
a fight, get tho reputation of a bad ono
and work my way into the society.
I did it and became a full-fledged mem
ber of the merciless gang. At last I
was selected with two others to kill
a mine foreman who refused to comply
with a demand made by tho society.
I got enough whiskey Into the men to
put them to sleep, warned the foreman,
and then reported to the members of
my branch that our proposed victim
did not put in an appearance at our
usual haunts.
"That night the wife of tho log cabin
hotel and saloonkeeper where I mado
headquarters gavo mo a whispered
warning In return for those little cour
tesies which a woman appreciates, no
matter what her station In life. I was
suspected of treachery and was to be
put out of the way. As I stole from the
shanty that night a man sneaked be
hind me with a knife and that woman
laid him out with a bung-starter Just
as he was about to make the plunge.
We fled together, I never knew till we
got Into court that she was hired on
tho job Just as I was. Then we went
Into partnership."

in about two weeks.
In the meantime, we're going to give
you greater inducements than ever to buy
Dry Goods. Every department' in the

And the prices on all lines from one
end of the store to the other are so ex

this opportunity pass. Prices are on the
jump, jump, jump, and a little later you'll
pay a great deal more for your Dry Goods
than we will sell them to you now for.
