ternoon by which Pitcher Willis will
wear a Boston uniform when tho Eastern

Catcher Lake. It has been known for
somo tltno that Willis Is too good a pitch
er for tho Eastern league and his draft
ing was certain at tho end of the season.
Fully a half dozen big league managers
have had their lines out for him and It
was finally decided to sell him to Boston.
It is said that ho will join tho team so as
to bo able to participate In the Templo
cup series. Willis camo to Syracuse from
tho Southern league in 1S96. His wonder
ful curves and speed marked him as a

They Will Fight Twenty Rounds in
Music Ilnll Tonight.
This evening. In Muslo Hall, Bobby
Dobbs, of Minneapolis, and Mnrtln
Judge, of Philadelphia, will fight twen
ty rounds. That will be tho star event
of the evening and will be preceded by
two preliminary bouts, the first of
which will begin promptly at 8.30.
Dobbs and Judge are oxtremely clever
lightweights nnd have been seen before
in this city. Dobba arrived here Tues
day and Judce put In an appearance
last night. He has been in training for
three weeks and is in the pink of con
dition. Walter Sllchter, the Philadelphia
sporting writer, will bo behind Judge
in the ring tomorrow night. If Judge
wins tho fight Sllchter stands ready to
back him for $1,000 against any light
weight in the country. The winner of
tonight's event will be matched with
Joe GauB, of Baltimore, to fight twenty
rounds before the Greenpolnt Sporting
club, of Brooklyn, N. Y of which Jack
Skelly is manager.
Dobba was seen In this city a few
weeks ago, when he defeated Hugh
McWInters in Music Hall. Ho haa
probably the best record of any light
weight In tho country. Judge Is said
to have Improved wonderfully since he
was last seen in this city.

Springfield, Sept. 15. The second day of
tho Springfield Bicycle club's tournament
closed tonight with tho twenty-mllo lace
between Luclen Losna. and Jimmy Mi
chael. Michael won In fine shape by 150
yards, In tho record breaking time of 3S.11.
Tho former world's record, held by Lesna,
v as 2 3-5 seconds slower. Tho two started
paced by quads. Michael took the lead at
the start nnd kept it until tho second
mile, when Le&na passed him. Michael
In the fourth mllo again shot ahead and
kept tho lead to the eighth mile. Lesna
then took the lead and kept it for a mile.
Michael took tho lead In the clovtnth mllo
and kept it for two miles. Lesna then
had tho lead by a few feet for a mile.
Jimmy then shot ahead with a fine burst
of speed and kept tho lead until tho sev
enteenth lap, when Losna gained a lead
for a mllo. At tho eighteenth mllo Mi
chael was fifty yards ahead. He gained
right along to tho finish and passed tho
tapo fully 160 yard in the lead. The
crowd rushed on to tho track when he
came around and fairly went wild.
Eddie Bald won out tho half mllo open
professional with a flno spurt. Tho tlmo
was 1.01 2-3, which Is the fastest that Bald
has ever made In a competition race.
In the mllo proferslonal, 2.10 class, Fred
J. Titus won cut by half a wheel, In 2.0S4.
In the one mllo open professional, Tom
Cooper, won, followed by Loughead, Ma
jor Taylor, J. S. Johnson and W. E. Beck
er In tho order named. Time, 2.05 4-5.
