Kilns Evans formerly occupied a house owned by Isaac Sum mprhlll, of 213 North Everett avenue, and desired the laying of some water pipes to bring the water to a conven ient place In the house. He spoke of the matter to his landlord, and Mr. Ruminorhlll procured a permit to mnko the trench, but did not get It done. Mr. Kvans volunteered to do It, nnd his landlord said neither yea nor nay. The work was done and a bill for J4.60 for the services of five men em ployed by Mr. Evans wa presented to Mr. Summcrhllt. He lefuscd to pay. A suit was the next step taken by Mr. Evans. There were witnesses gnloie, and several Items were entered by Mr. Summeihlll to offset the amount claimed by Mr. Evans. These Items were ths labor or two men employed by Mr. Summerhlll. beer furnished for the workmen of Evans and ploughing dono In Evan's p-nrden. George Coburn, of 809 Eynon street, was painfully Injured In the Contrnl mine yesterday morning. Mr. Coburn Is employed as a miner and had his right hand and arm badly lacerated by n fall of coal. He was taken to the West Side hospital where It re quired several stitches to close the wounds. Miss Eunice Lawrence, of 1721 Lafay ette Btrect, was admitted to the West Side hospital yesterday for treatment. LITTLE GIRL LOST. The 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ZIba Phillips, of 225 Edwards court,, cau.ed her parents much anxi ety yesterday afternoon by suddenly disappearing. A search was instituted ns soon as the child was missed, but proved fruitless. Later, however, a message was received at Jenkins' phar macy, stating that a little girl had been found on Capouse avenue near New Yoilt street and belonged In West Scranton. Patrolman Matthews was notified and the little wanderer proved to be the lost Phillips child. She was restored to her nnxious parents. She had gone "to see the bands" was her statement and couldn't find her way back home.
