tune saved Scarlet Oaks to Its owner. Tho
major appreciates tho fact that the bicy
cle has been tho messenger of good tid
ings, and Paul is heartily welcomed to
breakfast.

"Well, we may let you off from thnt,"
said Paul, ' but I'll be willing to guar

The major roared.
"Ah, that's a good one Just like all
the rest of the cycling fraternity," said

"The fact Is, we owe every bit of our
luck to the breaking down of the mes
senger this morning," said Paul, after

"It strikes me that it Is due to the

"Uncle," gasped Esther, leaning

own?"
I beg your pardon, sir," said James,
recovering himself with difficulty.
