At tho morning service the sermon by
Hev. Dr. C, E. ltoblnson, the pastor,

a triumphant entrance into the Heav

There the mansions are prepared for
the Christian, Christ's death was but
a medium, nn Incident of transit into

Tl.KIAN church: Rev. J. P. Moffatt
took tho text of his evening sermon
from Plrst Corinthians xv.20, "And
nov Is Chi 1st tlsen fioni the dead and
become the first fruits of them that
slept." He spoke In part ns follows:
"In all nations and in all times, there
has always been n vague hope of Im
mortality In the human heart, but not
until the coming of Christ Into tho
world did that hope become a definite,
hlstoilcal fact. Since the coming of
Christ Into the wot Id, God lmfl given
us a twofold token of our resurrection,
U: A gi eater and n lesser light. The
one, the return of spring, has always
been with men, suggesting to them
continually, the thought of the resur
rection of the body. The other, tho
risen Christ, Is a complete verification
of all man's fondest hopes in regard
to immortality. It Is lltttng that Eas
ter fchould be celebrated in the spring
time, for spring Itself Is a resurrection.
The spring-time reveal3 hidden forces.
It would be dtlllcult to convince one
who had never seen a. spring-time that
the trees, dead and bate, could live
again. Likewise It is oftentimes a dif
ficult matter to convince many persons
that the body can live- again. Tin
greater manifestation of the resurrec
tion to us Is the risen Christ. After all,
spting-tlme Is only a puiable rather
than a pioof of our resuneclion, but
In the Hiscii Christ, we have promise,
ptocf and pledge of the resuttection.
Ills resurrection Is the triumph over
Death. Chi 1st Is the "Death of Death."
After resuutctlon through the aton

ST. MARK'S EPISCOPAL church,
Dunmore. Rev. E. J. Ilaughton last
night spoke of the glorious lesurrcc
tlon of Christ, and of His tilumphant
dominion over death. Christ's resur
tectlon was but the first fruits of a
great harvest. Shall not mankind, the
highest development of creation, live
again? AVe strive to attain wisdom
and knowledge, but the goal is never
reached; the soul earneth for some
thing far beyond this life. Nothing
upon this earth can comfort the soul,
It soars high above to Its Cteator, God
Life Is precious whether we suffer the
pangs of poverty or the tortures of
pain It cannot be that earth Is man's
only abiding place, else, why Is It that
the high and glorious aspirations which
leap like angels from the temple of our
hearts are forever wandering unsatis
fied.' We are God's creation and sute
ly God In His mercy will elevate us to
a hlght life, a destiny high above this
earth, where the weary receive comfort
and the heavy laden find a resting
place.

being; "Then weie the disciples glad

ST PETER'S CATHEDRAL: In his

D. & II. PnKsengrr Train Derailed.
Engine No. 2, drawing passenger train
No. 12, on the Delaware and Hudson rail
road, ran off tho track at tho Carbon
street crossing at 7 50 o'clock Saturday
evening. Tho nccldent was caused bj an
open switch, which, It Is said, Engineer
Praunfeltcr did not see. Tho fact that
the train was running slowly probably
prevented what might havo been a serious
smash-up. As It was the engine ran along
on ties for thirty feet before it stopped.
Trafllc was delayed for over an hour,
when tho engine was once more seated
upon the rails and the trip north con
tinued. Notice.
We are still doing business at the
same old stand where we have been for
twenty-two years past and most re
