years of age that evening.

MARKETS AND STOCKS
Wall Street Review.
New Tork. Dec. 21. The opening deal
ings at the Stock Exchange were general
ly at a higher range of prices, the sus
pension of the National Bank ot lllmols
having hud little or no Influence on the
market. It is true, Manhattan broke 2i
in the first hour, but this decline wus due
lo special influences. In the afternoon,
when It was announced that the senate
had postponed action on the Cameron res
olution, local operators promptly changed
from the bear to the bull side, and this
new buying led to a sharp rise In the active
specialties. Another important factor on
the bull side waa the announcement that
there would be no gold shipments to Uer
many tomorrow. In the rally which fol
lowed prices rose 'y to 4'4 per cent., Man
htttan was the great feature, rising to 90.
The Grangers, Louisville and Nashville,
Heading, Western I'nion, Chicago Gas
were all prominent. In the final trans
actions the market wus firm In tone. Net
haimes show gains of alH per cent.
