Fatal Aeoldent at the Central Mine-John
Campbell Died from the Re
sult of Ilia Injuriei.
John Campbell and Anthony mar
gins were Injured in a fall of roof yes
terday afternoon lit the Central mine.
They were taken in the mine ambu
lance to the Moses Taylor hospital,
where Campbell died In about an hour
after being; admitted. Hlgglns was not
fatally injured.
Campbell was 82 years of age and
unmarried. He resided with relatives
on Luierno street, and his remains
were taken there yesterday after his
death.
Hlgglns Is 28 years of age and is
also unmarried. He sustained a frao-
ture of the pelvis and many severe
bruises, but Is expected'to recover.
THE LATE JOHN MOORE.
John Moore died Sunday at the home
of Miss J. B. Moore, of South Main
uvenue. The deceased was 86 years of
age at time of death. He was born In
Berne, Switzerland, and is survived by
four daughters: Mrs. H. Reyman, Mrs.
E. Pudner. Mrs. M. Heterli and Mrs. 1.
Heach. Mr. 'Moore had been indisposed
for several years, but he sustained a
fall Friday down a flight of steps, which
caused his death twenty-four hours af
terward. The funeral will be held this
afternoon at 2.30 o'clock:. Interment

died Saturday. Services over the dead

taken yesterday to Krosrburg, Ind., where

Many of the farmers from Wayne and
Susquehanna counties who came to
Forest City yesterday for coal were
surprlsd to find our sleighing almost
Bone. They were fresh from tunneling
among- arctic snowdrifts, and when
struck the tropical vale of the Lacka
wanna they were naturally surprised.
Potatoes have been offered on the
streets during the past week at 25 cents
per bushel. That's low enough to suit
most anybody, and ws Bhould think a
little too low to suit the hard-worked
tiller of the soli.
Kev. E. M. Calvin, or Princeton. N.
J., will preach in the Presbyterian
church next Sunday morning and
evening. In the evening he will speak
on "Alaska," In which country he has
labored as a missionary. Mr. Calvin is
quite well known here, having spent
the Christmas holidays in Forest City
with his friend. Rev. P. B. Kennedy, of
the Presbyterian church.
Our friend, Thomas W. Atkinson, of
Clifford. Is again a candidate for coun
ty commissioner in ausquehunna.

ready and has given excellent satis
faction. Nevertheless some think

would like to have a chance at the of
fice himself. Some Forest City men
who have been compelled by subpoena

to Montrose every other court, swear
neither one will have the delegates
from here unless a tacit agreement can

compelled to neglect their business and
yanked semi-annually to tne county
