The will which loft to Churica Orehurdson, late of Chi cago, SC5.000 In money and real ewtato, the property of the late Minerva Mcrrick-Orchardson, was this evening, de clared to be null and void by a jury In the circuit court. The- suit to break the will was brought by Eliza. Solomon, of Chicago, and Amelia Colleld, of Denver, Colo., heirs of the deeeased, on the grounds that undue influence had been exercised over Mrs. Merrick-Orchard-son in It execution. They succeeded In proving that Or chardKon, who was Vera Ava's right hand man up to the time of her arrest, by the aid of his confidential friend nnd medium, Wllllnni ISoyer, held re ences and made Mrs. Merrick, who was a spiritualist, believe that the spirit of her dead husband commanded her to marry him and make a will leaving him her entire estate, which she did. In spite of the fact that she was 84 years old when she married the M-years-old Or chardson. TIRES OF PAYING RENT. Fourth Foreign Government to Purchase an American Horn. , Washington, Dec. 23. The Austrian government has purchased the mlee mansion on Connecticut avenue, oppo site the British embassy, to be used as a legation and a home for the Austrian minister, Ladlslaus Hengelmuller von Hengervar. An Interesting case was ended yes terday morning by an opinion handed down by Judge Woodward. Kdward Kecgan brought suit for damages against the county commissioners of Luzerne county for injuries received by his eight-year-old son.WUliam. on Feb ruary 24, 1891, through the alleged neg ligence of the county commissioners. The boy, William, then 8 years of age, wes going home from school. As he approached the West Market street en trance of the court house yard a parade was passing around the square. In or der to get a better view of the parade, he made an effort to climb up one of the Iron fence posts which then stood at the Market street entrance. In doing this he took hold of. or touched, the ornamentul urn which svnnounted the post, at the height of eight feet from the ground, and It gave way. In falling it struck the boy and broke one of his legs. For damages fur this injury and for medical attendance, etc., the suit was brought. Judge Woodward, in a lengthy nnd able opinion, holds that the boy was n trespasser in endeavoring to climb the fence post. The post was not put there for any such purpose. The county did not owe to this lad the duty of maintains the post, or the ornament on top of If, In such order and repair an to afford him a safe perch. The boy produced the injury complained of him self by putting the fence post to a use for which It was not Intended. The finding of the referee, who awarded Keegan $'-". Is reversed and 'Judgment directed to be entered In favor of Lu zerne county. CHRISTMAS MUSIC. Masses to B Celebrated Here To morrow. Mike Polo was yesterday arrested and committed to jail by 'Squire Carle, of I Mr, William Thornton, of 127 W. Marks; Street, Explains Uow and Why U Did It. . From the Elmira Gazette. Old age has many infirmities, none of which are more prevalent than kid ney disorders. Have you ever noticed how the old people complain of back ache, lame back, and general llstless ness? And there are many other symp toms of which they do not speak, such as bloating of the limbs, painful and In frequent urination or exeesslveness of urinary discharge. Most people think they are too old to find relief and cure, but this Is not so. No better evidence than the following, which comes from an Elmira citizen, who has been cured of a very severe case at 77 years of age. Mr. Wm. Thornton, of 127 West Market street, speaks of his case In this way: "I am 77 years old. I have been af flicted with that dreadful complaint (kidney disease) for over ten years, making my old age a burden. I was so bad as to be forced to carry a belt at all times, and, when my suffering became beyond endurance, I would put on the belt, drawing it tightly around me and buckle It, thus bringing an ex treme pressure over the kidneys; this, undoubtedly forced the urine out, a function which the kidneys themselves had become too diseased to perform. My condition I put down to a strain I received. I began taking Doan's Kid ney Plls. After two or three days I notices their effect I was much sur prised, as the ailment was so severe and so long standing, while I had tried many remedies without any relief what ever. The pain I have experienced at times from straining in my efforts to discharge the urine was simply awful. I have done away with the use of my leather belt, and the pain has all gone, and I recommend Doan's Kidney Pills to all afflicted with kidney and urinary disorders." Students l.od to Change Their Plans. Columbia, Mo., Dec. 23. The senior law class of the state university has de cided that It will not have an address by Colonel Robert G. Ingersoll at Its next commencement. It was a general surprise, as it hud been announced only a few days ago that the tinns was con fident of winning in Its fight for the great agnostic. The primary cause of the change Is the Influence of Judge Martin, dean of the law department, and Judge Yantis, of the law faculty. Judge Yantis has a friend In every law student, nnd when he had an Interview In his olllce with several members of the senior class, the personal appeals he rhado were not In vain.
