Joseph Davis. The bride was attired
In white silk, with lace and pearl trim
mings. Miss Daniels wore a white silk
costume and carried roses. After the
wedding; a reception was held in Beers
hall. Many guests were In attendance.

Delaware, Lackawanna and Western
train on a wedding- tour. They will re

Christopher Robertson and Miss Lit

married at 8 o'clock at the home of the
bride on North Rebecca avenue. Rev.
Hugh Davis performed the ceremony.
The bridesmaid was Miss Jennie Davis.
Both ladles were attractively attired.
Daniel Roberts was groomsman. Miss
Mae Jones played the wedding march.
A reception was held afterward. Mr.
and Mrs. Robertson will reside at 522
North Rebecca avenue.

T. IE. Price, an energetic West Side
business man, was married yesterday
morning at 11.30 o'clock at Wysox, four
miles from Towanda, Bradford county,
to Miss Sarah O. Post, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John R. Post, of Wyiox.

tho ctemony. Oertrude M. Shores, of
Towanda, bridesmaid, and the
groom was attended by a. A. y imams,
the West bide representative of the Re
publican. The bride was gowned in
acrue lansdowne, with pearl and lace
trimming. Ml" Shores looked attrac
tive in a costume of brown, with har
monious trimmings. After the wedding
ceremony the bridal party were driven
to Towanda, where the 1.63 Delaware,
Lackawanna ,and Western train was
taken for New Tork. They will return
on Friday evening, and will live on
North Rebecca avenue.

Miss M. Charlotte Powell, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Powell, of North
Lincoln avenue, was wedded at 8 o'clock
last evening to Thomas H. TiUlams.
of Kingston. Rev. T. E. Edwards, the
eminent divine, performed the marriage
ceremony In the presence of the imme
diate lelitlves and friends of the fam
ily. 'Mlsa Rahel- Powell and D. J.
William, sister and brother of the
bride and groom, attended each respec
tively. The bride was attired in a
white elite gown, trimmed with pearl
buttona, and white satin ribbon. Miss
Powell wore a white silk costume. MIsj
Kay Williams played Lohengrin's wed
ding march. At the reception held af
terward Rev. Mr. Edwards gave a select
redding, and 'Reese S. Davis sang a
ong composed especially for the occa
sion. Mr. and Mrs. Powell reside at

Death of Mrs. Peter Roberts.
The wife of Rev. Peter Roberts, who
returned Monday from a trip to Cali
fornia, where she went In search of re

Warren, of North Lincoln avenue. Sev
eral months Hgo Mrs. Roberts' health
was despaired of and, with 'the hope
that the climate of the west would be
beneficial, the Invalid was taken to
California. Hut there was no change
for the better and her friends decided
to bring her back to her home to await
the inevitable. It came Tuesday night
at eight o'clock.

pleasantly at 392 Alexander street,' by
Miss Alice Young, who told how since

SOUTH SIDE NEWS.
Two Collisions Between Eleetrla Cars,
One at Mooslo and the Other
on Plttstoa Avenue.
'There were two street car collisions
on the South Side yesterday; one was
at Mooslc on the curve near the new
Brhool house, and It occurred In the
morning; the second resulted In the af
ternoon on Plttston avenue, but was
not a serious one, the fender of the
car being broken, and the coal wagon
against which it struck being only
slightly damaged. Motorman Joseph
Denlke was In charge of the car, and
those who saw the collision say it was
the fault of the driver of the wagon.
The coming together of the cars at
Mooslc gave the passengers a severe
shaking up, but none of them was in
jured. Motorman West Kreaky was In
control of the car outward' bound. He
did not expect to meet a car where the
collision occurred. The. car which he
did meet had been to Smlthvllle with
wire for the extension of the line to
Plttston, and It was returning off sche
dule time. The fenders on both oars
were broken and the passengers shaken
unceremoniously from their seats.

Miss Katie V. Donahoe; the "Sanctus"

Bessie McTighe. The male solo in the
Credo will be given by James Needham,
and the offertory solo, "Sahcta Maria,"
by Misses Donahoe and Melvln. At St.

Now M S. Matthews Finds Himself In the
Count? Jail In Consequence.
County Detective Thomas Leyshnn
lodged the information with Alderman
Millar on which the warrant was issued
yesterday, charging M. 8 Mathews,. of
Bull's Head, Providence, with gollng to
the county commissioners' office and
there obtaining through false pretence
and forgery a warrant for fees due
George W. Salisbury on a coroner's in
quest of which he was a Juror. The de
fendant was arrested and given a hear
ing last evening. He was committed
to jail In default of ball to await the ac
tion of the grand Jury. '
He denies that he secured by fraud
or otherwise the money due Salisbury
and Insists that he was not near me
county' commissioners' office. Despite
his demurrer the docket In the county
commissioners' office. It Is alleged,
shows the marks of his handiwork.

Turnpike Company Wanted to Compel
the City to Settle the judgment.
On Monday Attorney Dlehl, of the
firm of Watson. -DlebJ, representing
the Providence and Abtagien Turnpike
company, applied to' court for man
damus to compel the city to satisfy the
judgment of $2,276. awarded In the re
cent suit between these parties over the
repairs of - West Market street. Mr.
Dlehl was surprised to learn that 8.
B. Price, attorney for the city,1 had on
the Saturday previous, appealed the
case to tho Supreme court, and that
the Turnpike company had accepted
service of the appeal.
The case has gone up and Mr. Price
expects that It will be argued early in
February.

A telegram was yesterday received by
the relatives of Attorney H. L. Taylor,
who went to Florida about a month ag
for the benefit of his health, announc
ing the news that his condition is worse
and that his recovery is a matter of
doubt. . .
This intelligence will be deeply re
gretted by the numerous friends of Mr.
Taylor In this .city gome of .his Im
mediate relatives left yesterday for the
south to go to his bedside. He has
suffered from nervous prostration for

Additional One-Third of a Mill levy Is
Made bv tho Hoard of Control.
An additional tax of one-third of one
mill to continue for twenty-five years,
or until such time as the recent Issue ot
bonds Is redeemed was last night levied
by the board of control. The resolution
providing for this was drawn up by
the board's attorney, Hon. H. A. Knapp
In order that the teachers may have
spending money for the holidays the
board arranged that they might receive
a half month's pay next Friday. The
half-month's nay roll, which was ap
proved, amounted to $8,043.70. It was
decided to have the Christmas holidays
extend from Dec. 24 until Jan. 6.

By St. Joseph's Society on the Death of
Mrs. Anno Qnlnn.
At a regular meeting of the St. Joseph
Society, held at the St Joseph Found
ling Home, December 11, 1885, Rev.
Father McManus presiding, a commit
tee was appointed to prepare resolu
tions of regret on the death of Mrs.
Anne Qulnn. The following were ad
opted, as expressing the feelings' of the
society :
Resolved, That by Che dath of Mrs.
Anne Qulnn our Heavenly Farther has re
moved from among us a genial friend and
a useful member of the St. Joseph society.
Quietly and without ostentation she la
bored unceasingly for the forsaken little
ones and wa always ojrhong the foremost
In aiding those for whose benefit the so
ciety was organised, and was ever ready
to co-operate In any work undertaken to
carry out its object.
Resolved. That our society has lost a
member of exalted character, the Found
ling Home one of Its itrueat friends, and
tlmt her unaasuming efforts were recog
nized by us, who desire to ex prow our
feelings of sorrow ait tser loss and respect
for her memory.
