' There will be four vacancies on the school board and three on the borough council. The term of school director Henry Myers, of the First ward; John J. Duffy, of the Sec ond ward, and M. J. Toolin expires in June, 1S96, and Mr. Corcoran, who now represents the Third ward on the board, will be obliged to resign because of his removal to the First, ward. Mr. Myers may be returned again from the First ward. But neither Mr. Duffy nor Mr. Toolin will seek re-election. James F. Mc Andrew, .of Pine street, and James Mullarkey, jr., of Salem street, are named as candidates for Mr. Duffy's seat and Thomas Slddon is the only per son thus far named in connection with Mr. Toolln's 'luce. -.There will be the usual strife for the councllmanic vacan cies. The retiring members are John J. Dougher, of the First ward, who was elected for one year; Thomas Padilen, of the Second ward, .and John Manley, who now fills the vacancy In the Third ward caused by the resignation of Mr. Blake. It is rumored that Mr. Dougher may again be a candidate and that Thomas Caffrey may contest with him. It is also said that Mr. Padden Is anx ious 'to succeed himself, but he may have to fight the veteran councilman, Thomas K. Munley, in order to do It. Stephen Barrett, Jr.; Is anxious to rep resent the Third ward and has already publicly announced his intention to seek election. For the minor offices there are no candidates mentioned yet, but there Is little dunger of their being vacant, because of the overpowering desire of a large percentage of the citizens of this borough to represent their fellows In an oftlclal way. The spring election is anticipated here with as much pleasure as Is Chrlstmastlde and there Is some times more public spirit shown in the strife for the offices than there Is in the discharge of the duties that attach to them.
