Number of Affidavits.
Tn addition to this bill in equity n.
number of affidavits were filed. Al
fred Weeks, jr., said In one of bis pf
fidnvits thnt he h? a stockholder, di
rector nnd actlnp; engineer for the Cit
izens' Water company, and that be went
on the ground adjacent to the polt
su-lected for the reservoir on Nov. 27.
1S91. This was In the township of Clif
ton, this county, nnd Sterling-. Wayne
county, and he began n survey to deter
mine the most nvnllnhle point nt which
to locate a reservoir nnd decided to
place It at a point In Clifton township,
phout one quarter of a mile up stream
from the residence of J. J. Waaronliorst.
Thereafter he made a survey for a
route for a line of pipe from this point
to a point on the summit of a Wtnre
rlivldlng the water sheds of the
Trf-hlgh end Susqtiehnnna rivers.
Tfe prepared maps and bluo -rlits of
the purvey for use In connection
with the condemnation proceedings
and relative to the pnrchp.se of lard In
Wayne county. On rtet. 14 nnd 1"- of
this year he went upon the ground Pt
the polr.t selected fnr the reservoir with
a. prang of men and began the work of
oxcavatlon for the foundation of the
proposed reservoir dam. This work
continued during these two days.
Tn another affidavit Mr. Weeks says
that, the How of wntcr nt the point In
the lhiigh rtiver Where 1t la proposed lo
erect the dam does pot exceed
amount neeessnry to ndeojuntely sup
cly the population of Wllkes-Parro nn
vicinity. Similar affMavlts were filec'
by W. C. Lannlng, John banning, Jr.
nndi A. W. Jackson, president of the
Citizens' Water company.
Now Virtually tins tho Lehigh.
The Scranton company virtually Mas
possession of the Tehlgh now. Twenty
five car loads of pipe are already down,
and tfie remainder of the work is being
pushed with tho greatest possible
haste. The reservoir is located at a
point on the river locally known bs
Wallace's pool, which Is about 1B0 yards
back of the Pelaware, Lackawanna
and! Western water tank at Lehigh.
The water will be carried in 2-inch
pipes a distance of three miles to tho
he-a'dwaters of t'he Roarrng brook" at No.
10 All. It will be there emotled Into
the brook and will so swell Its volume
that another drought need never ho
feared es the wnter sy i)y of the Le
hltrh region Is without init. The three
miles of pipe will tWspyhon shaped
wtth the bigeer enr"t,fwo and a half
miles long. The Llgh water Is of
a brownish color lit the brook but Is
pure and wholesome-as Is evidenced by
the fact that trout Inhabit It, for trout
