Seranton Trounced Them Yesterday by a
Score of 1 5 to 1 .
C.arbondale enshrouded Itself In sack
cloth and ashes after yesterday's game
In -that city with "Hilly Harnie's Seran
ton electricians. Marty Swift had been
half forgiven for losing Tuesday's game
In Wllkcs-riarre by 23 to 9, but to have
the envied men from Seranton come
Into their city and with two hundred
howling cranks behind them shove
Frank Fox's pets right over Into the
mud hole well, 13 to 1, Is a bitter pill to
swallow.
A special train on the Ontario and
"Western road left Seranton with a
Koodly number of the "well, wells" and
many others who enjoy base ball for
Pome other reason than the recognized
privilege at yelling their lungs out. The
Carbondalcs had refused to allow Vet
eran Oaffney to adjudicate, and there
vas trembling and trepidation follow
ing the announcement 'that Mr. Evans,
fin Olyphant unknown, would umpire.
Whatever dire motives the unknown
may have had, ho found no opportunity
to put them to use. He umpired well.
A Gentle Corrective
Js what you need when your

what you get when you take
Ir. Pierce's Plcssant pellets;
they're free from the violence

authorities agree that
' in regulating the bowels
mild methods are pref

these tiny, sugar coated
pills arc most effective.
They go about their
work in nn easy and

of the choicest, concen

four are put up in each
sealed glass vial, ns
sold through druggists, at the price of the
cheaper made pills.
" Pleasant Pellets" cure biliousness, sick

pain and distress after eating, mid kindred
derangements of the liver, stomach and
bowels. Put up in sealed glass vials, there

as a laxative, or in larger doses, ns a gently
acting but searching cathartic, these little
"Pellets" are unequaled.
As a "dinner pill," to promote digestion,
take one each day after dinner. To relieve
the distress arising from over-eating, noth

They are tiny, sugar-coated, nnti-bilious
granules. Any child readily takes them.

A triple play, so rare In base ball, was
the feature of tho Washington-Iloston
game Tuesday. It was made In the
ninth Inning by Uoston when It looked
as If Washington was about to Increase
the score. Tho bases were filled by
HcGuire reaching first on Collins' error,
a base on balls by Cartwright and an
error of Tucker, which gave Crooks a
life at first. Maul hit a grounder to
Pitcher Wilson, who threw to Warner
at the plate, forcing McOuIre out
Warner threw to Tucker on first In
time to cut off Maul and Tucker re
turned the ball to Warner, who touched
Cartwright, who had attempted to come
home. It was all done so quickly and
all right under the noses of tho crowd
that It was some moments before the
play was understood.
I mpiro Lynch Uesigns.
TTmpire Lynch resigned from the Na
tional league Tuesday. He fined Third
Itasoman Davis, of the New Yorks, last
week and a big kick was made about It.
President Young upheld Lynch In his
official action, but ordered him to
l'.altlmore, although ho had been sched
uled to umpire the three New York
Brooklyn games. Lynch took offense
at the transfer and resigned. For
years he hns been considered one of the
best umpires In the country.
Syracuse's lircat Kccord.
Allen T. Nye, of New York, calls the
Herald's attention to the fant that the
Syracuse team Inst year played three
games against the Scrantons In ono
day, won them ell, made 33 runs, 17
hits, accepted 115 fli ldltiK chances and
mado but one error. He claims that It
Is the best one day's professional record
ever made by a team.

how cun they hope to command tho re

The anthracite coal tonnage transported

The tonnage Is, however, about equal to
tho Reading's proportion of tho total, and
shows that tho company Is adhering to

An ofllclul of thu Reading railroad, refer

reiteration of the receivers not to submit

the Stockholder that that position hud
been mummed, not so much because , the
court might not sanction It as because
there Is nothing In the situation so fur
which could justly be submitted to arbi
tration by the Reading company. Not a
single company, outside of the Reading,
ho added, hud stntcd tho minimum per
centage It would nccept. Buld he, con
tinuing: "If I were handling this matter
I would nk tho president of each of the
eleven companies to sttttn specifically the
lowest percentage ho would bo willing to

3 per cent. It would bo nn eimy matter to
discover which Interest was asking an ex

In percentage asked by that Interest. Tho
presidents have been four months working
on tho questions In dispute, und yot
have not attempted an adjustment on the
above lines, which are perfectly familiar
to them. The fact that they have not
done so Is, I believe, almost conclusive
proof that the main point at Issue with
them has been to force the Reading to a.
lower basis. Hut they ure now about con
