Charles Albright, nn ased resident of
Coxton, occuiiTed at the latter plane ttita
morning at (J.:W of erysipelas. He has

who knew him. The deceased is sur
vived by six children. The daughters
are, Mrs. Benjamin liosworth. of this

Fayre; the sons are, Chr.rles Jr., Adam
and Clarenoe. all of Pittston. Funor.-il,
Thursday, at lo a. in. Services at New
ton Center Presbyterian church, at 12
noon. Interment at Newton cemetery.

A Surfeit of Hater.
The water of the Susquehanna, river
nt this point has been rapidly raising
for the- past few days. It has now
reached a height of fifteen -feet above
low water mark and is nearly as hljrh

Thomas F. Cody has been confined to
hs home since Saturday last with the
grip.
Michael Kane will open his new hotel
on North Main tomorrow, Wednesday,
for business. The new hotel will be
known as the "Pittston City House."
The new wagon of Weeks. Iirothers',
thw enterprising cigar merchants, made
lis appearance on ouretreets this morn
ing. The wagon, will be used for the
delivery of their wholesale department.
It Is of the most modern pattern and
the only one of the style In this city.
D. M. Jones, of WIlkes-Barre, author
of "Songa for the Hour," was calling on
friends In this city today.
Itev. J. B. Sumner left this after
noon for Carbondale to attend the con
ference of the Methodist Episcopal
church, which le held at that place.
Itev, S. Ross, McClements, formerly
of the Oak Lane Presbyterian church
of Philadelphia, has accepted the pas
torate of the First Presbyterian church
of this oity.
David Monle Is homo' from his studies
at Philadelphia, to spend Kaster with
his parents, of the West Side..
Miss Laura Davenport was a visitor
at Wllkes-Barre this afternoon.
United States Geologist David White
and his assistant, Benjamin Phillips,
were on a trip to Burn Ice a few days
since. They returned with some very
rar specimens of moss, also a speci
men of under-growth pines which is
somewhat related to the coal plant.
The rehearsal of the company com
posed of home, talent uml conducted
under the management of Kranlt Fer
guson for tho benefit of the Leek Cor
net band surpassed the expectations of
their most confident friends. It is ul
ready assured that the funny society
drama, entitled "Tho Millionaire
Tramp," will be a grand success.
Flemming. the druggist, has just
added to his already well-equipped
store a new soda water fountain. The
fountain is of the most modern im
proved paten and U made of onyx, lits
weight complete l 1.500 pounds. It
surpasses anything- of the kind in the
city.
The mines of the Pennsylvania Coal
comiiany will shutdown on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday.

miscellaneous stock market wus quiet to
day, the sales amounting to only 145,000
shares. At the opening tho market was
firm, the Improvement ranging from 14 to 1
per cent. Later In the day Hurllngton and
