all their caucus have formed a very
strong ticket and the fight at the com
ing election will, no doubt, be a bitter

satisfactory to all concerned and a
veiy pleasant feeling exists between

pirants for political honors.

Wednesday afternoon three mine cars
loaded with coal at the Lackawanna
Coal company's colliery In some unac
countable manner ran back to the head
of the shaft and toppled down to the
bottom, demolishing the cars and
wrecking the carriage. The works
were Idle yesterday on account of the
accident.
Mrs. D. W. Harris Is spending the
Wiek with relatives In Wllkes-Uarre

Miss Mary Carbine Is ill at her homo
on Lackawanna street.
The next attraction at the Opera
house Is the "Irish Statesman" by the
Adonis club. It will be produced en

Cleorge Phillips died at his ihnme or.
South Main street this morning after
an Illness of only a few days of pneu
monia. He was born in Wales In 1S37.
He is survived by four children, Mrs.
William H. Harris, Mrs. William Mor
rison, Miss Lizzie Phillips and Joe Phil
lips. The deceased had a large ac
quaintance of friends here and else
where, having been a resident of this
borough for nearly eight years. The
funeral notice will appear In tomor
row's Tribune.

5.30 p. m., returning the same evening.
The exact time of the trains and other
particulars will appear later. Reports
from various sources Indicate a large
excursion.

guests of the South Side Llederkranz,

Frank Relehenbaker was a visitor to

Scenes'" was exhibited In the armory
last night to a large audience, ull of
whom were delighted with the enter
tainment. The colonel will give an
other exhibition tonight; a matinee to

again tomorrow night. The house
should be filled to the doors, for It Is
Indeed a rare treat to witness the pic

Sumter, Fort Moultrie, Fort Johnson,
Long Bridge, Crossing the Potomac,

of the war, and tomorrow evening the
close of the great rebellion.
Ellslia. Grilfls treated several chil
dren to a sleighrlde yesterday after
noon. Charles T'ptegrove was out driving
yesterday afternoon; his team Is colts
and became unmanageable. The cut
ter was upset whtm opposite the Mon
trose House, throwing Mr. Uptegrove
out. The team then ran to the corner
of Church and Cherry street, where
the horses fell and were caught. There
was no damage done ' except one
