Editor of Thr Tribune: Sir: Permit me a little space in yonr valuable paper to make a few remarks pertaining to Mr. Robathan's letter in Monday's Tribune concerning the drink ing habits of the people of Swansea. Mr. Robathan makes the assertion that "every body drinks, from the smallest child to the gray-haired old grandfather," etc Now I lived in Swansea, and during my star there I formed an opinion of the people that does not coincide with that of Mr. Robathan. At that time tbey had some of the most flourishing tempereuce socie ties of the country, and every church had what was called then, Bands of Hope, ev ery member of which made a vow to be total abstainers. And it is very hard to make me believe that all the labor done in those days has been in vaiu. And to be brief. I will venture the assertion that the people of Swansea do not swallow mors of the fiery liquid than do the Scranton peo ple. Sincerely, William Grav. Soranton, Sept. 19.
