committee of select council the quet.

owners on the block between Mulberry
and me streets are opposed to any
kind of pave, but the petition which
will be read at tonight's meeting will

owners between Spruce und Mulberry

the distance to Vimt street. An
amended ordinance will be presented
with the pennon specifying that trick
is to be laid on u concrete Ihs, tbe
whole to eost not more than 3 4 i per
square yard and to be assessed block by
block.
The block by blosk assessment will
reduce th- cost of paving between
Spruce and Mulberry streets from the
fact that the Scranton Traction com
pany is liable for the expense of par
ing between its tracks and a narrow
strip outside each rail. It was on this
point that much of the opposition to
tho improvement rested, the Malbarry
Vine street owners contending that the
properly owners below them bhould
be ussessed for the increased cost of
paving where uo car tracks are laid.

James Connell Lodge Will Go to Lake
Ariel Today.

pendent Order of Odd Fellows, held a

completed all final arrangements for
the excursion of the lodge to Lake
Ariel today.
At the meeting which preceded the
delibcratians on the excursion, three
candidates were installed in the ini
tiatory degree and one was conferred
with second degroo.
The excursion comtaittoe reported
that suffljieut cars will be at their dis
posal for the accommodation of any
size 1 crowd.
Tho first train will leave a few
minutes after 8 o'clock and tickets
will be good on regular trains during
tbs day. Refreshments of all kinds
will be served, and a pleasant time is
