TRIPP'S WOOD FOR A PARK.

the l'ei-plu Ghmorally.
The question of securing Tripp's
wood for a public p irk has met with
great encoiirairenii'iit and U backod
with favorable Heiitiuient from resi
dents on this aide. City Engineer
Pniliips says that a very good approach
eon Id be made to the pur It from Ceme
tery streot for tho convenience of
pople from this side. This would con
demn, for street purposes, a small strip
of land now owned by the Delaware,
Lickawnnim and Western Railroad
company.
The approach from tho Frovidoiico
nide would be across the Delawure,
L ickawauna and W 'Stem tracks. To
un'ke the place still more pleasant a
miniature lake cowl 1 be flooded Into
the land. This is looked upon with
decided favor. The V.illey Passenger
company now have a franchise held by
the Seranton Traction company to run
o.irs to Hull's Ho id, which, if carried
our, would make the place fully as ac
cessible as the liouud Woods. The
West Side board of trade discussed this

The police force contains a number
of oflioers who are or have been mem

appear a Dody of men of which many
