Umpire Charlie Mitchell yesterday suc

Parks, of Easton. Harrlsburg has its eye
on a new pitcher, who is said to be a won
der. It is whispered at llarrisburg that
the Stale league's condition is not as
healthy as it might be and things are

Anew idea has been evolved from the fer
tile brain of Colonel Bill Parks. It is to have
a four club league composed of Reading,
Scrnutou, Potlsvilhi and Easton (trans
ferring the Harrisburg club to tho last
named city). Ho says that Easton. even
with a losing team, draw- better than this
city aud that With Meyer's men he could
coin money. All this is, of course, contin
gent on the tute or the present league.
Should tho cranks fail to turn oat this

The fancy aud trick ruling of Ban
Canary Will ho one of tho lending features
of the meot. Canory is well hkod in Scran
ton and has many admirers.
A great deul of pains will bo taken to
have the track in Urst class condition for
the races. It is considered one of tho best
half-miio tracks In tho country, and good
timo will undoubtedly be made upon it.
Bids for privileges of all kinds should be

nue. These privileges are many nod valu
able and should call for sprightly bid
ding. Tho attendance will bo any where
from 0,000 to 10,000.
But little more than two weeks rcmnin
for tho Scranton Bicycle club to make
preparations for the great meet to be held
in this city on July 4. Energetic work is
being done, however, by ull trie members
of tho ciub, nnd there is no doubt but that
the result will equal their most snugumo
expectations. In a day or two the dia
monds and gold medals that are to be of
