tally shot bis young son Joseph, a lad of
about 4 j years. The bov's condition is
very serious, but Dr. Moylan, the at
tending pbyiloiao, has bopei for his re
covery. Mr, Miller was cleaning tho weapon
at the time. He supposed it was
empty, and snapped th trigger. The
cartridge exploded, ami the ball en
txred his son's body betweeu the thigh
and nb lomen,
Mr. Miller is shocked and greatly
unnerved by the unfortunate uccident.

descon. Father Dunne preached the ser
mon from tho text, "Blessed Are They
Who Die In the Lord." Many beautiful
floral tributes wore presented. The pall
bearers were P. J. McCann, P. Dnrkin,
William O'Malley, T. J. Kelly, J. J. Fabey
and J. Duffy. Interment was made in
Hyde Park Catholic cemetery.

Farrell, of Washburn street, to Miss Mary

of the hall, nnd the partitions in the

On the second iloor in the rear a well
appointed lavatory is added and on the

At the conclusion of tho trial of the
foregoing case jury was empanneled
in tho trial of Edward F. Boyle &
Sons against the Ham berg Bremen In
surance company. Judge Jessop rep
resents the plaintiffs and Attorney E.
N. Willard the defendant company,
The suit is brought to recover $182, the
amount of a tire policy nn a store in
Dunmore, and which was burned on
Nov. 21, 1S91. Tbo case had not been
completed when court adjourned for
the day.

ant's cows broke down bis fence and de
stroyed his garden vegetables and
properly, for which he seeks to n cover
the equivalent in damages. The de-fens-
will be that the cows did not
break into tho garden, for the reason
that there was no fence worthy the
name. Tde parties reside in Carbou
dule township.

Tha carrier pigeou fly which took
place in this city last Saturday under
the auspices of the Grassy Island Pigeon
olub of Olyphant, was a highly sue
Oeasfnl event. The birds wers rs
leased from the new Delaware and
Hudson station on Laokawanna avenue
and II iw straight as an arrow to tiieir
destination at Grassy Idanit, a dis
tance of seven miles und one quarter.

won first prise I y making the fly in I)
minutes nnd u5 seconds. Kite Pleroe's
bird was only seven seconds slower,
and the bird entered by William Gir
diuer, the club's courteous s-cretary,
lauded in (J minutes und oo seoonds.

The next fly will be from Carbondale
to Grassy Island on July 4.
