SCHEDULE FOR TODAY.
Barrlebnrg at Bcrantoo.
Altooua at Hazleton.
PotUVllta at Allentown,
WE WERE EASY FOR HARRISBUflG.
Senators Had no Trouble in Taking the
Game from Us.
Jack Hustoa and his senators from
Ilarrisburg made their first appearance
Bt the ball park yesterday afternoon
and defeated the Scranton team with
neutnosa and dispatch. It was ilarris
burg'a third meeting with Scrantou
tlm aeason and likewise its third vic
tory. Those who saw yesterday's game un
derstand why it is thut Ilarrisburg
laada the Btata leiiguj. It plays tha
national game as it should be played
aud keens lighting for victory from tha
moment the ball is pat in play until
the last man is out,
Boranton played a lamentably weak
f::iuie yesterday. Its pitoliers were uot
iL .tiv . aud at the most critical mo
mentl the players seemed to collapse
I torn nervous prostration. Stalls,
Wetzel an-1 Westlaka distinguished
themselves particularly id that respect.
Higgins and Patobat) also lent their
energies tomowhat to the achievement
of the general result.
The visitors sized up Hodson'a de
livery from the start and batted him
bo freely tuat Manager Swift put Do
ran into the box iu the fourth inning.
At the same time Patchen went ont in
right lfild, and Rogers came in from
the field and wnt behind the bat.
ANOTHER CHANGE HADE
Still tho slaughter continued, nnd in
the fifth inning Massey, who lias not
yet entirely recovered from his Charley
horse, was sout on first; Captain Dick
Pbelan moved up to second, aud Hig
gins went into right Hold. 1'arcbeu re
tiring from the game. That combina
tion worked better.
Jack Doran thereafter had better
control of the ball and during tbe
aixtli, seventh and eighth innings liar
riiburg failed to score.
Tl.o Scranton clnb started in well in
the first inning. Hogan made a single
and was enable ! to score by virtu of a
Bacritico by Wetzel and a two-bagger
made by Patchen, the latter scoring on
Roger's sacrifice.
Then the craQkfl began to think that
Ilarrisburg w .s easy for Scranton, but
it was not.
Tiie visitors failed to score In the
first, but in th" second opened up on
Hudson anil with three singles and a
double anil the assistance of a variety
of errors by the home club IOC-red four
rnns. Qa two singles nnd two bases
on hulls three rnns were secured In the
third and in the fourth four runs were
the result of two singles, a double nnd
a bas ou ball. In ttie fifth tha visit
ors made their twelfth and last ran.
TWO RUNS IN TUB FOURTH.
The home team added two scores to
its totals In tho fourth and nnother in
the seventh, Pitcher Ifeaney, of ilar
risburg, only struck out one man, bnt
he kept the hits weil souttered an I was
given faultless support in the field, not
a single error being made behind him.

Lancaster, Pa., June 4. A meeting

An interview was had with repro
sentives of the Pennsylvania Traction

definitely determined until tomorrow.
The meeting was adjourned until morn
ing, when it is expected Lancaster will
be admitted.
At midnight the Fchednle commit

Heading; Sanders, of Scranton, aud

GLINTS FROM THE DIAMOND.
The Little Tycoon Jr.. beat the the
Penn Avenue Stars yesterday afternoon
oy n score of .15 to IB.
The street car accommodations to the
bail park yesterday were sadly deficient.
As a result both the company and base
ball association loa considerable money.
We hope for a better showing on the
part of Scranton today. It is difficult to
believe that Ilarrisburg so far outclasses
us as yesterday's gaiuu would seem to in
dicate. The Hustlers challenge any club iu the
city for a game of ball Jane 10, on Gam

Pitcher Armstrong, of Ilarrisburg, is the
worst specimen of a coacher it has ever
been the fate of a Scranton audience to
tolerate. Ho keeps up a meaningless drivel
while on the coaching lines, accompany
ing it witii an effort to ape the antics of a
kangaroo. He should be suppressed.
Secretary Dlddlebock. of the State

ture in tho Philadelphia Inquirer says:
"iiarnsDurg still loads tho suite league
race, with Allentown and Hazleton hav
inr a close fight for tho place, and Ai
toonaand Reading jus) as close for fourth
place. There has been an improvement in
th" playing of all tho clutis, but all have
suffered for the want of practice through
the recent heavy rams. There is no loun-
(latlon tor the report that thero is to bo a
change in the circuit. Tho present eight
cm lis win continue to t lie end or tno season,
unless one or mor I of them should drop out
by their own volition. In that event there
might then bo room for Shenandoah, Lan
caster and one other city which is now
anxious for a frauchise. The repor; thnt
Shenandoah is to take Pottsvillo's plOfil is
untrue. Pottsville la well bacwed by
some of the beat business men in the city,
and while they have not received the en
couragement they deserve of lute, thov
liavo too iu ucli puliiic spirit to let their
city go by default. A wiuiiing teamcaii
not be built up In a few weeks or mouths,
and Manager John F. Smith has been se
verely handicapped by Injuries to his best
players nnd by other causes."
