Watches For Ladles.
Tho watch and its chatelaine nre in
tended for one another and unite to
make a singlo effect either in design or
color. Thus a chatelaine of olivines
holt ; a watch of green enamel, which
perhaps is incitsed in a rim of diamonds.
A chatelaino of red stouts, rubies, gar
nets, ruby spinels, or perhaps a bowknot
of red enamel, has a watch with a solid
red enamel surface rimmed with dia
monds. A couplo of long diamond loops
bold a watch of black enamel, set with
large and small diamonds. Tho chute-

POI-ULAR WATCH AND CHATELAINE.
laine may be a bowknot, a sword and
scabbard, a leaf, a loop, a dragon, a
series of links, anything, but it harmo
nizes with the watch.
There are many odd designs in watches,
such as a cord of gold inlaid with ol
ivines and a fringed ball of olivines at
the end in which is tho watch. Tbero
are also floral watches, and watches that
may bo found wherever they are least
expected, but these baubles are not more
attractive as ornaments than the watch
that plainly declares its intention of
kesping and telling the time. A watch
of medium size, in a case conspicuous for
its lack of everything that is showy or
uniquo in decoration, is always in fash
ion, which cannot be said of tho odd de
signs that please today and vanish tomorrow.
