Omieral W. T. Sherman, asking for an ad
ditional supply of cavalry , to be used against
Indians on the plains. The 6th regiment of
cavalry has been ordered to report to Gener
al Sherman at Omaha, Nebraska, and will

Church of 'Windsor lownship, near Ham
linrg, will hold their centennial festival on
Saturday, the 27th instant. The church
btiilding has been handsomely remodeled,
and it will be re -dedicated at the same time.
Rev's. A. L i Herman, of this city, and
Guttlob lenger,l near Kleinsville, aro the

there.. The above building is thei third
church which has been erected on the same
spot, History states, that during the Revo

to the annual meeting for election fif Tres..
tees,hold at the Agrieultural College of Penn
sylvania, on - Wednesday, Sept. 2, only the
undersigned was in attendance. A. printed
report of' the proceedings of the meeting is
herewith submitted. Your attention is ear
nestly called to the embodied report from
the Board of Trustees to the delegates as ex
hibiting some of the reasons why the College
is in its present crippled condition. The
vast) importance to agriculturists of such an ,
institution as the Agricultural College is de.
signed to be, should be a sufficient incentive
to induce farmers to the care of its interests
ands guard against its falling into utter help
lessness. A connection of six years (as stu
dent and Instructor) with this College. has
perhaps given the writer a more than ordin
ary.interest in its welfare. Yet a careful ex
amination of its resources '*lll convince any.
one that the facilities for obtaining a thorough
practical education are bettor at the Agricul
tural College to-day than at a large ,majority
of our Colleges.
Yet other second rate colleges are full to
overflowing, while the only college in which
the farn4rs have a voice is almost destitute'
of studelto, If this institution has faults it
is within the power of "the farmers, who are
the elect 'rs of its Board,of Trustees, to rem
edylthen >evils. • By a resolution of the del
egates present at the College on .the 2d inst.,
