TOOK THEIR • DEPAtvreay.--,The swallows,
known as the Martens, Which have been
hblding forth at the gablejend of the EAGLE
office, took their departure, for the South on
Saturday night between 10 and 11 o'clock ;
at least that was, the time they wtire last seen
at their quarters. They flow away with a
rushing. no,ise, - and since then they have not
reported. They appeared to be very matt
excited during the last week or two, and
held frequent meetings I During the latter
part of the week they flew away each morn,
ing, returning in the evening. We have no
doubt grand meetings were held in different
parts of country, per custom, in which-they
participated.' The First Reformed and Lu
theran Church steeples have been more or
less covered each day, for several weeks by
the swallows, which were evidently 'taking a
birds-eye view of matters and things Previous,
to their departure.
