How - TO ENJOY A PIC-NIC.
EY THE 'BARD OF TOWER HALL.
• Pie.aties are pleasant things,
If managed aright.
Here's the plan, now, that brings
The most of delight:
Choose some picturesque spot,
Secluded and fair,
`Where there's shade to be gat
:From the sun's tierce glare.
Have first-rate things to eat,
And something to drink,
That will lessen the heat,
Not make your face pink.
Bring with you some lasses
To chat though the hours--
Bun over the grasses
And gather wild flowers.
nut remember you must
Coot clothing to wear,
Wbicb will not show the dust
Nor easily tear;
That becoming will be,
Yet not a restraint— "
But at BENNETT'S you'll see
The garb I would paint.
Our stock being constantly replenished by large
lady additions, we are enabled to offer a large as'
6 urtment of all kinds, styles, and sizes of clothing
at the lowest possible prices.

A SONG FOR Mosqurro Torn
Any well dressed per Son, with a remarkably fine
Tviee, Will produce a great sensation (in hitt throat)
by singing the following to the well-knoton old tune
of Robinson Urnsoe :•+
I'll sing you a song,
And it shall not be long,
Of an insect so sharp and so fleet,. oh:
Who comes in the night.
With his poisonous bite—
The villainous little mosquito!
Oh! the outrageout. moeguito I
The horrible, cruel mosquito!
He *ticks in his bill, and he takes out his fill
Of my blood! —the voracious mosquito!
I put out tile light
In the dark of the night,
And lay my head down on the pillow;
But the insect's awake,
And lie meant to partake
Of my:blood till he's taken his till, oh!
Ohl the wicked mosquito!
If I only could catch the mosquito,
I'd hit him a crack on the small of his back,
And smash the uneasy mosquito.
He buzzes around
With a musical
Before his meal 6 nis grace,
Ar a, napping his wings,
He merrily sings,
, rmi he pounces right flown on my faze, Ohl
Oh! the tormenting mosquito!
The unprincipled little mosquito!
The mean little thief! I'll bring him to grief!
BOW rigiSli I could kitt that mosquito!
Now he buzzes away,
Not wishing to stay,
And continues his nutsical noise on,
For he's taken my blood
Aud used it for food,
And left me a bit of his poison.
But stop!—the unlucky mosquito!—
I' roe knocked him quite off of hie feet, MI
And he reeserwill kite any more folks at night,
For I've killed the bloodthirsty mosquito!
The folks at OAK HALL
Vehemently call
To the people, who're vexed with the heat, oh!
Come, harry along,
Now you've linishecithe song
Of the barbarous little mosquito.
Clothing so fine and so neat, ohl
Clothes from the head to the feet, oh!
There are clothes at Oak Hall for the short and the tall,

PITCH AND LUMBER COMPANY
The object of this Company is to ru comae a large
tract of North Carolina turpentine and Etrmiunlu , A,
and to work the same in the production of Spirits
of Turpentine, Rosin, Pitch, Lumber, Shingles,
Grapes, Cotton, &c. The present exceedingly high
prices of all these articles render this project one
that cannot fail to yield very large profits. D pro
spectus now in our office shows, from correct calcu
lations, based on present prices, a dear profit for the
first year, should prices remain as they are, of over
SW per centum. Similar calculations, based on the
lowest prices ever known, indicate a profit of at
least
TWO FMNDRED FEE CLETiT.
If such immense profits have not heretofore been
realized the reason is due to the slack habits induced
by the slave system and the want of Northern skill
and industry.
The object for whirh we hereby solicit capital is
not only a profitable but a commendable one. WI is
it will benefit those who engage in it, it will at the
same time induce:Southern emigration, and thereby
strongly tend to the development of the resources of
the South and the eradication of the secession doc
trine. /t is not like oil or gold mining operat lons. No
