of War to'announce to the armies of the United States
that at twenty-two minutes after 7 o'clock on the morn •

mortal wound inflicted upon him by an assassin.
The aixnies of the United States will share with their
fellcw.citizens the feelings of profound horror implied
by the xuoet atrocious murder of their great and beloved
'Pjrßidenf and Commairoer-in-Chiel, and wish profound
sorrow wUI mourn htedeath. as a national calamity,
