lost a kind friend and companion. -
Few men have departed this life more beloved and
respected than the subject of this memorial.
The writer had the opportunity to know biro intl.-
mately, , and pays this last - tribate to lv s memory. He
was always kind and generous to a fault With a
belpinehand to every one, be also bad a kind word.
He extended the band of charity and was one of
these who overlooked the faults of others.
Ot his military career we sneak naught. His country
knows it, and let it speak. He was always teadyin his
rapacity of assistant surgeon of the 69. h Regiment
Pennsylvania Volunteers. to render a willing hand to
all that were 'disabled or needy in every respect.
To his bereaved mother, and mourning sister and
brothers, who must feel that s, e has gone to a better
world, I recommend them to that source from whisk
. only we can hope for consolation under our trials •
To his friends, 1 would say emulate his self sacrific
ing writ and erg long they may all meet on the right
