The following remarks are taken from the financial

The excitement in oil stocks is still increasing, and
the price of some of the producing companies bee ma
terially advanced. We notice the companies situ sted'
on the Hyde and Egbert Firm, which is considered one
of the beat on Oil Creek,,_having rapidly advanced
within the last few days. This is owing to some large
wells baying been lately struck on this property, one
flowing about a thousand barrels per day, and one
flowing two hundred barrels per day. The entire yield
of this farm is now between fifteen hundred and two
thousand barrels per day, and sbnie of the companies
located en the 'Maple Shade,' ' Hyde Farm,' hock,'
Rebut,' and laiteral,' have had their incomes
doobled by the ahove new welts going down on Mitt

This volume is a continuation of the admirable and
highly popular collections which bear the-same name.
The editors say of it:
"The present differs from our previous series in the
larger space accorded to hymns 'ln Time of War ' and
• For Old Age. We have *been advised to include
hymns by Watts, Wesley, Cowper, and others, which
bad been rejected hitherto as common in church edllee
tions; and nave also given aa many as we could and of
the mystical, tender songs of Madame Guyon. they
being out of print in this country.
Nor have w e failed to discover a few more of the
rich old Latin by= which. filtering down through
German and English translations, sink as deeply into
the heart to-day as if they had only now reached na
tive ground, proving still that before the Eternal all
hearts are one, and the centuries are but as Watches of
a night. "
