pressing the sense of the members on the death of the
late Major Gen. Birney made the following report, whic
was unanimontly received and adopted:
WHEREAS. It has pleased an inscrutable Providence
to remove by death (whi•st in the service of his country)
our late follow-member, Major Gen. David B. &rem;

Reso:red. That the members of this Troop unite with
the loyei ottirene of our wholo country in mourning the
loss oi so true a gentleman and so gallant a soldier—one
whose career of distinguished honor and usefulness
will ever be cherished in the affections of the people,
and who: e name Will be written high up on the roll of
those noble martyrs and heroes who have fallen in the
grand struggle now going on for the preservation of our
minus- honor and nationality.
Resolved, That, Whilst sorrowing over the death of
our late associate, Whose life promised so much for his

brated Hyde and. Eglbert . Farm, which has proved it
self to'be one of the great, oil basins, a large, dewing

Keystone' leases. on 'which 'there- are two producing
wells known as Keystone Wells 1 and 3, and another

ted on 'the celebrated farm, and a well is now

Well;" nearly one-half of which is bottom land. On
adjoining lands above and below there are a number of.

DEAR Silts:—ln reply to your inquiries as to
how and when the Farmers' and Mechanics'
Bank of Milford, Delaware, was robbed, I will
briefly state -to - you the facts to the best of my
knoirledge. On Saturday, August the Lith, 1864, the
cashier, J. W. Adkins, Esq., and myself, closed the
bank, It about 4 o'clock P. M., and did:not enter the
bank ngain until about 8 o'clock 4. M., on Monday
morning, which was the 16th day of August. The bank
was entered by the burglars at the front door, , at what
time I can't say; I suppose on Sunday night,
,for this
reason: Elms of the party who robbed the bank were
about the hotel all *day Sunday and Saturday,..night,
'and could not have been in the bank any grad: len g th
of time. The Safe was one of L. LILLIE'S PATENT
BURGLAR AND:FIRE-PROF SAFES, which Cost the
bankfive Artdred dollars about three years ago. The
mode of entering the safe was by drilling a small hole
near the keyhole into the look, and A:ling the lock
with powder and blowing the safe door oft, causing to
the bank theloas of $16.000, which tamed stoppage of
the bank and - the derangement of our business matters
very much. I have given to you the statements very
briefly. and I am in hopes you will excuse my brevity;
but I have given to you the essential facts, I believe.
