COLORED PERSONS AND THE CARS A large meeting of the colored people of this city was held in Sansom•street Hall last evening, for the purpose Of taking measures in reference to their ex clusion from the city passenger railway cars. The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Alex. Stanford.' Mr. John C. Bowers wag elected president. Other acers were also elected. Mr. Bowers then stated the object of the' meeting. Several petitions, he said, had been sent to the presidents of the various Passenger Railway Companies, but up to this time they have not deigned to answer them. It is now about time that this distinction was done away with. His remarks were listened to attentively, and re calved with applause. A committee on the car question being appointed, they offered a preamble with the following resolu tions annexed : Resolved, That we will employ all jet and lateral means to agitate theublic mind that a righteous sentiment may ex ist on this subject. Braulve4, That the League formed by the colored people of ibis city is hereby recommended to ridge a distinct fund to agitate the subject by the press and all• other nmansconeistent with the duty of orderly citizens. Resolved, That we do now and here. in this meeting assembled, appeal to Christian Churches of this city, of every denomination; to exert their influence that this -wicked proscription may cease. Resolved, That in the sight of our present national straggle no more shameful sight can be presented to an intelligent, sensitive mind, than that of respectable females standing upon the platform of empty ears, with eons, husbands, • and brothers beside them in flatted. States uniform, ready to defend the rights anti property of 'hoes railway corporations which treat them thus in dignently nutt demand full fare. Resolved; That we lecegolge with pleasure the con sistency of-the Union League of New York In using in fluence and appointing counsel to defend the loyal peo ple of color from just such outraged as we continually niter in this city. Resolved, That the white citizens of this country are at this moment arraigned at the bar of retributive lns tics for their Inhumanity to the people of color, and there is no logical hope In the mind of any sane tuan that ills trial will close until justice is done our out raged people. Rev. Jonathan Gibbs make it short address in sup port of the resolutions, which was frequently ap pleaded. The preamble end resolutions were unanimously adopted. The Committee on the State of the Country re ported a preamble with a long series of resolutions, which gave expressions of great loyalty towards the National Government. Mr. Albert Green made a stirring speech favoring the resolutions, which were unanimously adopted. The following resolutions were also adopted: Resolved, That it Is difficult to understand how any board of directors of city passenger cars, who are selected to secure the pecuniary interest of stockhold ers, can atiord to make rules to Ignore the presence of 2%000 Inhabitants of the city through which they pass. I se e in the Buildup Dfswileh of the 21th of July the Tioia County Bank robbery is again dieplayed by the same David Evans. I would merely say that the Sale Wks neither a Bank Safe nor Lillis's; that I have a letter voluntarily written to me by the Cashier, enclosing a copy of the letter to Evans & saving that they took the liberty to publish apart of it in order to deceive the public. This copy can be seen at my depot. I would sanitise, that the Tioga County Bank pare just ordered a Ico.l National Bank hate. Little's Chilled Iron, price $l,OlO. This needs no comment.
