nothing for his parentage, that she had no money
herself, and though she had not a "relation hanged,

have made such a remark in our cooler moments.

WHAT THE HIAWATHA DOES.
It. restores.fadeiand gray hair and whiskers to their
original color. It brings up the natural shading of one'
hair with another, thue giving the hair a perfect life
appearance, so that the most critical observer cannot
detect Ha use. It makes harsh hair soft and silky, stop!
Its falling out, cleanses it and the ecalp from all impa
rities, is as readily applied and wiped from the skin a*
any hair dressing, and entirely Overcomes the bad-of
focts of previous use of preparations containing tmlplmr,
sugar of lead, &e.
: The proprietors of the Hiawatha published the follow*
lag challenge to test in the New; York dailies three
weeks, which
WAS NEVER ACCEPTED:
Let some well known and disinterested persons ap*
point one to the proprietor of each preparation for the
hair to bring up the color. Every proprietor to use no*
thing but his own preparation, and the person nothing
also daring the test. A certificate of the result lobe
widely published at the expense of the unsuccessful
competitors. Sold everywhere.

We reEpectfully invite yottr attention to and coneide
ration of the justly celebrated and reliable remedy foi
Dyspepsia, Heartburn, Debility, and Prostration. Tht
proprietors are proud to acknowledge the unparalleled
success which has attended the sale of their valuahU
preparation, known in nearly every portion of ths
civilized world as the “GOLDEN BITTERS.”
We risk nothing when we terra them a 'mlunbU pr*
partition, for they are one of the few articles of the
present day which are not a humbug; andwe are wiL
'ling and able to satisfy any person or persona who will
call upon us, that the celebrated * 1 Golden Bitters*' ar#
ft genuine, bona fide hygienic article. It is tho.wish of
the proprietors that the virtue of the article be tested be
fore condemning. A decision of their merits by any on*
who has tried them is worth a million of purchased
bogus testimonials. For creating a healthy APPfiTITB
they are invaluable, and are unequalled asa TONIC.
They are mild in their action, and operate in gtvia*
vigor and strength to the system—not by any change
they:produce In the solids, but through tbo medium oi
the living principle’. They are purely VEGETABLE/
being composed of Gentian Root, Calarans. Sassafras,
and many other remedial ageuts of the Vegetable world.
»U preserved in Jamaica Rum and Sherry Wine.
AS A BEVERAGE
they are the most wholesome, invigorating, and pala.
table sthonlant ever offered to the public. And thefari'
of their being prepared chemically and ectentificalij
preclndes the possibility of a bitter, unpleasant taste,
common to Bitters, generally offered for sale. We es
pecially recommend theni to LADIES, and particularly
to those suffering from Debility, AVealcnees, and Pros

The object of the corporation is to erect two; sets of
poles'and wiresj forminga doubla line, to run bydif
ferent routes, connecting theories of JNew Fork, Phila
delphia, Baltimore, and Washington, and all the prin
cipal intermediate points, and>-o establish offices for the
reception and transmission of telegraphic messages,
•and, by connecting with other linesat the maiapoints,
to be able to send messages to all parts of the United
States and Canadas.
. The line is now in course of construction, and con
tracts have been entered into for the purchase of wire
and other materials. None will be used except of the
best quality, and it is contemplated ..to have one set of
wires in operation between tho main points in less than
sixty days, and the other set will be put up and in ope
ration immediately afterwards..
No enterprise nowin the market offers equal prospers
of profit with that of teiegraphieg, and tho nature of.
the bnsin?ss proposed to be done by this Company, as its
name implies, warrants its stock being recommended
to.the public as a choice investment. " '
A careful Estimate, based far-below the actual capa
city- of the number of wires proposed to be employed
by this Company shows that, with proper management,
