RELIGIOUS INTELLIGENS. Religious -statistics or the World. The National dloacourc and Annual Record for 1864, published by Cteurge W. (ibises, of this city, gives us the world a. It ia in A nutshell. Among the great amount of valuable statisties which it contains, of the religious world will be to its comyendium . 30 , r , y s highly Interesting feature. Asa reference for eealerlastles it Is an indispensable reeord. Thome, for example, who believe that the hillleniuM is to be brought about by the conversion of the whole human race thrOcah the preaching of the Gospel, can see at a glance the Immense field of missionary labor still remaining to be done from a single fact. The total population of the fee grand divisions of the world Is set down at 1,284.738600, of Which num ber the total Christian population is estimated to be 261718,000, or little more than one-fourth of the whole. The proportion of Protestants to Roman Catholics in this estimate is about as 1 to 2, the former numbering 95.916,000, sinf the latter 165,041,. pm This relative proportion is approximately maintained in America, Europe, Asia, and Africa; -taiga in Australia and Polynesia, (the fifth grand division,) it IS very strikingly reversed, the Roman Catholics .there numbering but 280,000 to 1,100,000 Protestants. It is evident from Mr. Childs , great book that our own country takes down the world in the number and variety of her religions denominations. Their number and relative membership are estimated as follows : African Methodist Episcopal Crunch, 26, 200 members. Baptists of all grades (embracing Replier, Anti Mission, Seventli-Pay, Six-Principle, Fre&Will, River Brethren, Winebrennariano, Ran kers, Mennonites, and Disciples, or liampbellites). The statistics, as presented in detail; concerning - the State of religion in evert nation throughout the world, constitute an inexhaustible mine of comps relive riemment, and the notes with which the ta bles are interspersed contain much late and import ant information. Prom the latter we extract the facts that 10,100 Christians of Russian America be. long to Greek Church ; that the Protestant po pulation of South America, consists of a steadily increasing number of congregations of German and Swills immigrants in Brazil, of a colony of Walden• Mans in Uruguay, of German, English, American, and other foreign residents in all tne large towns of South America, and a small number of congrega trona of native converts to. Protestantism; that in leg% a plan of union was agreed upon by the Gene ral Assembly of the (Old School) Presbyterian Church of the Confederate Sutea, and the United Synod of the Presbyterian Church, and that it is probable that most of the ocher Presbyterian bodies of the slave States, in particular the Associated Re• formed Synod of the South, and the Independent Presbyterian Church, will join this union. We hope at some future time to draw more largely upon these ecclesiastical statistics for the infer inatiOli of out readers, and we do so the more willingly from the fact that the greatest possible pains have been taken by the publisher to insure accuracy. SIINDAT-SCHOOL ELTINTVISHABY AT THB CHMEOH 08 TEE: 110 LT TECHHTS fifth anniversary of the Sunday.schoola of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Walnut street and Rittenhouse Square, was celebrated at that edifice on laat Sunday after noon, at 4 o'clock. The numerical strength of these wheels, and the admirable manner in which they are eondueted, have awakened such a degree of con gregational intermit in their behalf to in com paratively few churches. The attendance was very laree s and every one teemed delighted, not only with the admirable man ner in which the various classes performed the parts assigned to them, but the discipline evinced by the children in a beautiful obealence to their teachers and superintendent. THE Domnevc MARRETS.—The "panic" which the money brokers speak of as having prevail ed to a greater or less extent along Third street, and at the Stock Exchange, during the week, producing a great fall in price., has communicated itself to the farmer* , stalls and produce markets. The house. keepers will be rejoiced to hear this, and the dealers themselves Knight to felicitate each other, for the re duction in price is sure to bring increase of business and greater profits. It is the conviction of this fact, brought directly home to the farmers, that hair compelled them to accept lower rates for their but ter and eggs. The formation of an Anil-Butter league in this city, a week or two ago, had the ef fort Which it was intended to have. People resolved That they would forego such an expensive luxury, and await in patience the result of Their action, They did not find it so great a self-denial after all, though Philadelphia butter is said to be with out an equal for excellence in the country. ft the New Yorker' should resolve to go without but• ter, they would not earn a very great reputation for self sacrifice. Is is scarcely worth eating at any Wee. Our people, in resolving to do wiihout this daily article of consump - ion, have Shown a degree of firmness which does them credit. They have brought down The price of butter front sixty cents to thirty-five cents per pound, and it sold yesterday at The latter rate, and went begging for buyers. Quite a large number of families have entirely abstained from its use, and will no doubt eon. tinne to do so until it is brought to a fair price, and the farmer, are made to oelteve that their profits will result more from large sale' at reasona ble rates, than small sales at exornitant rates. Riga which, a week or two ago, sold at forty five cents, sold yesterday at twenty-tour sante per dozen. Shad which, last week, were Kim mending gtiCril.26 were readily parted with at 35400 cents. There was a decline, also, of four to six cents per pound In meat, of all kiw is, It may be that the fall in the premium on gold has lied something to do with this downfall of the produce price. current. It is hliely, however, that the chief Cause is the determination of the people to no longer countenance by their purchases a combine. tlon expressly maintained to keep prices above their natural /eYel. The calque of speculators is the netenerles of life have too long held high oar• vivid, and it is time their rperationa bad come to close. To maintain the natural equilidrium in the markets, the combinations of speculators must be counterbalanced by the emnbinations of the eon sumero, and in this thins Is /nekehii/ the whole community.
