Courtlaud McCarter, ache 15th Regiment Penna. Cavalry ( Anderson Troop), aged 24 years. The death of this sterling young man caste a gloom over a once happy family. Early in the present struggle, oreninte t hahme by patriotic motives, he left a lucrative post to join the 9th Regiment Pennsylvania VolanMers, and served during the first three months of the war. Shortly after his return, though able to eniov this life in comparative luxury,-he again gave his servicet, in a sehaltern position, to the cause of republican liberty. By the ordination of the God of Hosts, " Wile doeth all things well," the undistinguishing fatality of war has prevented his witnessing the coming realization of the fond hope of his "outgoing' , —a united country; yet in his• death a sterling patriot and Christian soldier has been tailed to his last home. He was always last at the bedside of those of his companions in arms who were - called before him, ministering that consolation whicli alone con come from one reared in the conscionsness of the Worth of eternal salvation Wear for the living, mourn not for the dead; Weep for alma hearts whom ware remoneleßs fang 3 Have ermhed in anmilsti; bat the laurelled bed In Which the soldier sleeps, freed from the pangs And toils of life's commotion, calla no tear or svmpathy to dim the stranger's eye.
