FUItD. — At a meeting of the Precinct Committees
on Collections, held on Wednesday evening, September
16th, a committee was appointed to prepare a short sy
nopsis of the management of the Relief sand, for publi
cation, which is here pretended: There have been 277
applications made by enlisted men residing within the
limits of the Eighteenth ward, and their families paid
every two weeks, commencing July 17th, until they
were mustered out. The number of children in those
families is 463, besides parents who are infirm and de
pendent upon their Ms for support. The total amount
of money collected during the operations of the ASSoei4-
tion,is 83,811, which is accounted for as follows :
Cash paid semi-weekly to the families of

its grief for the loss of one of its members, in the person
of Robot BE. Lee, and to maik its respect for his memo
ry and character. Therefore.
Begolved, That our deceased brother in the course of
along and distinguished career at the bar, and while
for many years holding the office of Recorder of the city
of Philadelphia, by the urbanity of his manners, the
goodness of his heart, the force of his talents• ana the in
tegrity of his principles, - won e esteem and confidence
of the Bench, the Bar, and the public, which he con
tinned to en.my to the time of his sodden and lamented
death. -
Resolved. That we deeply sympathize with, the .be

ed at the battle of Gettysburg; Walter Scott, of the class
of 1858, formerly Lieutenant in Col Teirelf's regiment
NE.A9 York Volunteer Engineers, mortally wortuded at
Carli-ile, while serving in Cad., Landis battery. and -
Henry It Clark, of the clams of 1852, Lieutenant in the
sth .New Jersey Vol., killed as the battle of Gettysburg;
Whereas, While we deplore the stern necessity that
demanded their lives, we hold the cause of Libarty and
Union, for wnich they died, worthy of the bey. and bra
vee.t blood of the nation; therefore, be it

cine, we are called upon to mourn the tom of one whom

the districts of the suburbs (now lighted by oil) by the

And extending the same to others that are now des
titute, have agreed to make known to the public in
general, and in particular to those parties who may be
disposed to contract the supply of said fluid, for the pati
ne lighting of those districts above indicated, with the
understanding that the supply of gas must be abundant
and of good quality,in order that those who are desirous
of taking charge of ss id contract may present their pro
posals at the office of the Secretary of the City Councils,
within the term of three months. The City Councils
reserves to 'troll the right to publish - opportunely tne
conditions which are to be observed in the fulfilment of
the contract; bearing in mind that the lights are, to con
tinue all night, and that a uniform dimension will' be
given to the burners, so that the same intensity of light
will be preserved.
The party to whom the contract may be awarded will
be allowed to supply the said fluid to priVate dwellings,
ag the, privilege in favor of the Spanish Gas Company
ex_pired the 20th April, 1819. •
