Mr)...Gotor AT THE ACADEMY OF MUSIC,
Tilts EvENtrto.—From the great sale of tickets in
advance for Mr. Gough's lecture, at the Academy of
Music, this evening, on "Eloquence and Orators,"
We are safe in predicting a crowded house. In this
lecture Mr. Gough impersonates the very genius of
oratory, in such a manner as no written disquisition
could possibly equal. In fact, we regard this lecture
of Mr. Gough as hls greatest etlbrt, and those who
railed to hear it when delivered in this city before,
Should not miss the opportunity of hearing it to
night. Mr. Gough's subject on Friday evening will
be "Temperance." What the subject of his lecture
on Tuesday evening will be has not yet been deter
lathed. Tickets to all of these lectures can be had
at Martienie, No. 608 Chestnut street, and as those
giurchaeing tickets for the first lecture, in most oases
at the same time secure their seats for the remain
ing two, the only sure way to obtain seats at all is
to apply early.
LECTURE nv VIE REV. A. A. WfLIITS.
..—We learn with pleasure that the Rev. A. A. Wil

liver a lecture in Philadelphia in behalf of a most
praiseworthy object. The lecture will be given on
Friday evening, March 'Mb, at Musical Fund Hall,
and will have for its subject—" The Sword of Wash
ington ; or, the Temper of the Times."

old grocery stand of C. H.. Mattson, Aich and Teath

" THE PLAY OF ILLMLET WITH ITAULET
LEFT OUT."—We don't know whether this has ever
been attempted or not, but we do know what has
• been attempted and successfully carried out. We
• !Know of a building having been designed by a
'Washington architect, with the assistance of a smart
'Ulan, (say a Philadelphia Postmaster,) and built on
-no less imposing site than Chestnut street, adjoining
that pure Grecian marble building, the United States
• Custom House ; and we further know that said build
ing was designed and built expressly for a Post
• Office for the city of Philadelphia; and, furthermore,
• the said building was declared completed for bud
•Dess on the 24th day of February, and the citizens of
maid city were invited to transact their business
• there, and ace the chief clerk in his new office
and arm chair, and avail themielves of the conve
niences designed for their use. But 10, a Post Office,
and no letter-box $60,1160 for a Post Office, and no
-"dace to • deposit letters ! Surely the dinner or the
'nag-pole must have received undue attention at the
bands of somebody. Supposing Charles Stokes &
Co., at the opening of their store, under the " Con
-tinental,” had invited the public to their store, an
=liming that "Me price would be marked in plain
,figures on all the goods," and neither coat, pantaloons,
mor vest in their establishment! We think the simile
between thin and the Philadelphia Post Office, with
to letter-box, a good one.

To THE CITIZENS OP PHILADELPHIA
For some time past, I have been solicited by the Medi
cal Faculty of tide city to add to my " Schiedam Aro
matic Pchnapps" business the bottling of PURE BOUR
BON WHISKY, which could be relied on by the medical
Profession. 1 would have acceded to their re,luest some
time since, but found it difficult to procure a pare article.
After considerable difficulty and delay, I hare arranged
with two distillers in Bourbon county for a regular
supply, I have also located an agent in Louisville, KT. •
for the purchase of BOURBON WHISKY, direct from
the distillers, when offered for sale in that market.
The Whisky will be put up in my Schnapps bottles,
and packed in cases of one dozen each, with a lac simile
of my signature on the label.
I remain, yours respectfully,
UDOLPTIO WOLFE,

UDOLPEO WOLFE, Lick., 22 Beaver St.. New York:

We have tested the several articles which yon sent us,
and consider it justly entitled to the high reputation you
claim for it.
We would recommend you to appoint some of the re
spectable Apothecaries, in different parts of the United
States, as Agents for the sale of your Bourbon Whisky,
where the profession can obtain the same when needed
for medicinal purposes.
Wishing you success in your new enterprise,
