operations of the SOUTEIWARK SOUP SOC'ETY.
Last week they distributed fifteen hundred loaves of
bread and thirty-two hundred quarts of soup.
Owing to the increased demand upon the Society at
this time, they are compelled to ask the assistance of the
generous and benevolent, so that they may be able to
continue their charitable work.
Within the past few days the applications have been
numerous, and from a class of persona who heretofore
base been able to provide for themselves.
These new applicants are females, whose husbands,
sons, or brothers are now with the army, and the delay
in the payment of whom has thrown; thorn upon the So
lelyhe.
