For the Committee,
MAN APPEA L FOR' THE UNION.—
Profes.sor McCoy 's great oration on "The Lon
don Thnes on the Rebellion Against the National Con
stitution," which was originally delivered bthre the
President and his Cabinet, at Washington, and, subse
tirlautlY. four times at Harrisburg, has been delivered
in this State more than fitly times, by request was re
peated on Saturday night, at the Musical Fund Hall, to
a crowded audience, at the invitation of the Executive
Committee of the National Union Association.
. . . . .. . . . . . .
A full-length portrait of Washington, surrounded with
the American Bag, decorated the platform. At its right
was this extract from the National Constitution:
"THIS CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATJIS
SHALL BE THE SUPARMS LAW OF THE LAND,"
and on the left appropriate quotations front Washing
ton s Farewell Address.
. .
The Professor was introduced to the audience by Mr.
Kern, the chat; man of the committee. We shall attempt
no detailed report of this great oration ; suffice it to say
that it was the most masterly and eloquent vindication
of the Constitution and the Union that we have ever
beard. No report can do justice to the speaker ;to ap
preciate him he must be seen and heard. As an orator
we have never heard his superior, not even excepting
the celebrated John B. Clough. We cannot express onr
appreciation of his powers and eloquence better than by
quoting from a letter written by Mrs. S. Helen De Kroft,
the blind authoress, to Mrs. Rev. Dr. E. Nat, the morn
ing after having heard him repeat this celebrated oration:
'No part of Profe•mor McCoy's able dlscourseis so clear
and as pointed as that which establishes the great fact
of onr perfect oneness, onr perfect nationality.
" Indeen, after listening to Professor McCoy, one would
as soon think of admitting the possibility of chalking
the ocean into Monarchies, as one and another portion of
this Union setting up by itself. 0, may the God of nations
bless him! bless him! and the white angels forever
guard him! Be is as eloquent as truth itself, his every
word is ponderous with meaning, and all purple and
golden with love for his country.
" From tint to last, his enraptured audience follow
him through a sr a of startling, amazing, and all absorb
ing feels. Indeed his retch of lofty thought is nothing
less than inspiration. The spirit of the blessed Wash
ington is upon him, and his heaven-born principles burn
and blaze anew as they fall from his reed lips. His
solemn earnestness alone makes you feet almost that
. you are listening to one risen from the desd, to warn,
to chide, to Was, and to lead on to assured victory. At
times, the tide of his eloquence is positively fearful;
then suddenly Dialling away into the serene grandeur
of eternal hope, like rainbows upon a summer sea!
Mighty, maiielions orator The valleys should rise
bp, and the hills come down to listen to him. Old men
and young men, women and children, everything that
has a spark of soul in it, should he stirred lijsans patriot
ism, and roused by the thrilling power of his voice I"
At the cone usion, the committee invited him to repeat
his oration to our fellow-citizens some evening this
wrek, to which the Professor very kindly consented—sng
gosling, at the same time, that the proceed; be sonny's!.

P URIFY THE BLOOD.- NOT A.,FEW
of the worst disorders that afflict mankind arise from
the corruption that accumulates in the blood. Of all the
discoveries that have bey 11 made to purge it out none
have been found which could equal in effect AYER'S
COMPOUND EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA. It
cleanses and renovates the blood, instils the vigor of
health into the system, and pargosout the humors which
make disease. -It stimulates the healthy functions of
the body, and expels the disorders that grow and rankle
in the blood. Its extraordinary virtnesare not yet wide
ly known, but when they are, it will no longer be a
question what remedy to employ in the great variety of
afflicting diseases that require an alterative remedy.
Such a remedy, that could be relied on, has long been
sought for, and now, for the first time, the public have
one on which they can depend. Our space here does not
admit certificates to show its effects, but the trial of a
single bottle will show to the sick that it has virtues sur
mating anything they have over taken. Sufferers from
Scrofula, Scrofulous Swellings and Sores, try it and see
the rapidity with which it cures. Skin Diseases,
Pim
pies, Pustules, Blotches, Eruptions, de., are soon
cleaned out of the system.
St. Anthony's Fire. Rose or Erysipelas, Tear or
Salt Rheum, Scatd Head, Ringworm, &e., should not
be borne while they can be so speedily cured by ATBll'll
