He was with General McClellan during the famous seven days of retreat, and passed unscathed through the battles of Gaines' Mille, the Cluckshc7miny, and Malvern Hill— contests in which his divielon lost over three thousand men. Being moved to the Potomao, he fought under General Fitz John Porter upon the 27th and 28th of !m -ost, near Manassas, and upon the next day met hie fate within a few miles of Centreville. His body now lies upon rebel ground. His friends in Philadelphia and those in his regiment sincerely sorrow for his foes. He was a most promising youth, and bad not his death come so soon, would have been a useful member of society. Yet the call of the archangel summoned him, and his soul has gone, I trust, to join that of his parent, whose labors of love daring his ministry upon earth are reaping their reward But a void is felt here which cannot be filled, though those who feel it honor the patriotism which led poor Poulson to his pram J . 0.
