About half an hour/afterwards smoke was observed is suing from the basemont of tho store of S. V B. The tire was confined to the basement,. in which was stored a large amount of valuable goods, com prising ladies' cloaks, velvet', satins. Ac. Neatly all of this stock was ruined by fire and water. The whole loss will be between $2,000 and fi3,000. which is folly covered by insurance in city companies. Tho origin of tho latter conflagration Is attributed to the falling of portions of the but ning clothing from the roof of No. 42 into tho roar of Bunter's store, and then blown through an open window upon the light coverings of .the goods. • - DARING BURGLAR I E S .—About t wo o'clock ycstirdoy morning, the house of Mr. J. Mil'er McKim was entered through the bath-room window by a man named Fleury Fitger. He had procured a ladder upon the oPposPe Bide of the street, by which ho made gc od his entrance.
