FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL. THE MONEY MARKET Piuladsldhia, July 15,1802. Specie metiers denoted considerable excitement 10-ciay, os tire rate has advanced 1 percent, on yesterday', .treet figure. The demand was very large, and IX6 wan readtty paid for tlio largo pieces. There was no evidence of pa nic, but it seems as if 115 is to bo the base of specie ope rations for the present. It may vary up to 117 and down to 113, but it is thought the figure named wifi be the ave rage for some time to come. This will be the case until the exportation is checked by amounts of produce for warded, end bills of cxchungo thereby created in suffi cient quantity to throw the balance of trade against the English commercial centres. The energy developed by some of tho How York shippers is working rapidly to this end, and soon we may took for considerable (reduc tions in tho line of specie exportations. As a consequence or “old demands" bolng equal to gold, for all commcrciel-purpeses, they advance in about the same proportion as gold, the amount still in circula tion keeping the relative value oi the notes far behind the coin; as they diminish in amount they willgrasp at the higher figure of gold. PnotoanArn Ai,- BUMS—l’or many months, Mr. F. Uuteknn.it, tho most ekilfoi and artistic photographer in this city, hag been leaking the finest card photographs of a public character, for tlio Album, that have been sold on this side of the Atlantic, Recently, he has fitted up an elegant ground floor Gallery, in connection "with his spacious operating rooms, Nos. 704 and 706 Arch street, where the choicest pictures produced by him are sold to the public; also, Photograph Albums in every style. Tho praise of Mr. G.’s pictures is now sounded everywhere. We do not wonder that his rooms aro almost universally resorted to by all who desire first* claaß pictures. Always Ahead.—Like a true patriot, J. W. Price, proprietor of the People’s Restaurant, south west corner of Fourth and Chestnut, believes in keeping in the advance. We have followed his catering cam-, paign, since making his late elegant improvements, with some interest, and have found him invariably ahead, in furnishing his patrons with choice edibles of the season in advance of all competitors. Yesterday his guests were gratified with fine, large, and delicious Pennsylvania Tomatoes, and to-day (Wednesday).we understand he will charm the palates of those who know where to dine with the first Green Corn of the season. Prico undoubt edly stands at the bead of hie profession. Sramm Confections.— Mr. A. L. No one should leave town without a supply of them. He is alss doily adding to his rich stock of hot-liouso and tropical frtiits—grapos, peaches, bananas, et cetera. : IWhaiinq Voyage.— This highly; entertain ing exhibition continues to draw good audiences at the Assembly Build'n?. It is the only entertainmont now offered to our citizens, all the other places of amnsemoat having closed for the season. . Jt:ly —July is the hottest month of the year. The northern part of the earth is now fairly launched iito the rays of the sun. The mean tempera ture iu Philadelphia is 65 deg., or about 3 deg. higher than that of Juno. ; Tho main daily maximum is 73 deg.* tho mean minimum of the night is 56 deg. The nights are not as warm as those of August, but the days are warmer.; The mean range of tho thermometer is from 65 deg. to 45 deg, The highest recorded temperature is 102 deg.;'the lowest 36 deg. This all points to the necessity of light clothing; and this in turn points to Cbarleß Stokes’; Clothing Store, under the Continental, where it can be had at the lowest price. ' Three Stages op Beauty.—Beauty has three stages—-the coy, the dignified, and the intellectual. The first exists until about twenty, the second until twenty-five, and the last until beauty has made itself wings and flown away. The young Miss has a primness, a Btaidness, and a miniature severity of aspect at va riance from her years. In the case of man, however, this is different. All wen. appear beautiful who array then selves in fashionable summer garments, procured at w e p “!?“ No. 609 Cnesfcp,”* , 77. , . -nmcr-coan ax other establishments. . The Soahoecx of Change.—Everybody is complaining of the want of change. Nickels are in de mand ; silver is eagerly sought for and heavily-paid for ; and the price of gold Is kiting upward at a frightful rate. We do not know what to suggest for this deplorable want; but if any of our masculine readers! need change of a diffirent description, they can readily obtain it by pur chasing an elegant suit at the Brown Stone Clothing Hall of Rockhill & Wilson, Nos. 603 and 605 Chestnut street, above Sixth. -'"41,621 541,985 13 CONTINENTAL HOTEL—Ninth and Chestnut at*. Jayne’s Alterative.—lt is an established fact that a very large class of disoaseß can only be cured by such medicines aa will enter Jnto the blood and circulates with it through every portion of the body, for only by this means can the remedy be brought into immediate contact with the dißeaße. To obtain this desirable end, no preparation has ever been so uniformly successful as Dr. J>. JAYNE’S ALTE RATIVE. SCROFULA, SKIN DISEASES, CANCER, ERYSIPELAS, GOITRE, RHEUMATISM, DROPSY, EPILEPSY, &c. GANCEnous Tumors, White Swelling’s, Goot, Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, Ulcers, Scald Head, Etc , Etc , ■ " _Have been effectually cured by this ALTERATIVE. It ia. besides, one of the moat pleasant articles that can be taken into the stomach, operating as a tonic, and re moving Dyspeptic; and Nervous affections. It has been found particularly beneficial in CANCER AND CANCEROUS AFFECTIONS of all kinds, cniing a majority of the cases in which it has been need, and ofttimea after the failure of other remedies, GOITRE OR .SWELLED NECK.—In innumerable coses of this disease, in which Jayne’s Alterative has been perseveringly used, it has‘never been known to fail. All have been curtd who have continued its use according to directions. ' DROPSY AND DROPSICAL DWELLlNGS.—Many physicians, who have used the Alterative in diseases of tbfs nature, consider this : a speficic, so great has been its succeße. It acts by increasing the powers of digestion, exciting the absorbents into’ healthy exercise, whereby the watery or calcareous depositions and all unnatural' enlargements are reduced. EPILEPSY, FITS, CONVULSIONS, are usually considered incurable, and: yet experience Ims proved that the Alterative, in conjunction with.-the Sanative Pills, will cure a majority of cases; it should be tried, therefore, by all who are subject to these terrible af flictions. SCROFULA.—In all the formsof this disease, whether in that of Ulcerations of the Flesh or Bones, Enlargement of the Joints, Glands, Swellings, Eruptions, Tumors, etc, the Alterative has been found pre-eminently successful. It enters, into, and circulates with, tho blood, thus de stroying the virus or poisonous principle from which these diseases originate. . SKIN DISEASES, of all kinds, Scald Hoad, Tetter, Bait; Rheum, Ring Worm, Boils, Jimpiea, Blotches, Roughness of the Skin, etc , are readily cured by the Alterative. RHEUMATISM AND .NEURALGIA.—In chronic cases, this Alterative, if perseveringly used, is generally successful. In Acute Rheumatism, „ Jayne’s Liniment should be supplied in comiection, according to directions. FEMALE COMPLAINTS.—In many affections.pe* culißrto females, especially whon arriving at maturity, or at the M change of life,’ 1 tho Alterative is unsurpassed by.any other remedy. In Oholorobis or Retention, Ir regularity and Leucbrrhcea, the best results have always followed its administration. COMPLICATED AND MIXED DISEASES, NER VOUS AFFECTION 3, DISEASES OF THE HEART, DYSPEPSIA, LIYEB COMPLAINT, Constitutional Diseases, and diseases originating from a’depraved or imyerfect Atote or the Blood, are all cured by Jayne’s Alterative; and while it is a fault in many medicines that, when they are removing the disease they are also prostrating the patient beyond recovery, the Alterative has no Buch drawback. While neutralizing the virus of disease at its very source, it sustains the strength of the suffVrer. The union of Disinfectant Tonic t and De obstrueni properties in this medicine, and tho fact that all these inflnences are blon-i ed harmoniously in its ope rations, distinguishing it from all other similar pre parations. Let the afflicted give it a trial. The ALTERATIVE is prepared only by Dr. D.
