The Sun and the Wind.
BY TUB BARB OF TOWER Jttitt.
The Sun and Wind, (old writers tell us,) ■
Once of each other’s strength got jealous;
A while they quarrelled, fumed, and Letted,
Then of cigars a box they betted;
To bo tho prize, without denial,
Of him who strongest proved on trial j
And as a traveller went by
They belli agreed on him to try
Their strength, and by a powerful stroke,
To strip the wanderer of bis cloak.'
44 Now,” roared the wind, 44 you’ll geo me do it;”
He puffed the fellow’s cloak, and blow it,
Trying bis best away to tear it;
But tfce owner thought he couldn’t spare it-
So all around the garment tucked in;
Then Phcohus cried, 44 1 think you’re sucked-in;
So, Mr. Puffer, stop jour bellows,
While I convince such windy follows .
They can’t begin my power to equal,
As you’U discover in the sequel.”
Then bo. with all his force, began
To pour bis beams upon the man,':
Who eooe— hrifmeltedin the blaze—
Threw off bis cloak, (tho story tays.)
Then Phoebus cried, «By forty StyxeV, .
I’ve won the bet—hand out the sixes.”
You may discover, if you’re ablo,
A score cf morals In this fable;
But.ono 1 think will do at present:
/ Hot irans make winter clothes unpleasant.
• So, if you wish to feel luxurious, ®
• While heat is fierce and furious.
