Fair in Aid of tub Sou>i*m. — Our readers
should not forget that a Fair is now being held at Nos.
809 and 811 Chestnut street, (formerly Levy’s store,) in
aid of the Coopar Shop Refreshment Saloon, and the
Hospitals or this city. The display or articles is highly
creditable, and the arrangements for making a visit there
agreeable and entertaining are most admirable. Through'
cut the fine weather of yesterday, hundreds availed
themselves of the double privilege of enjoying the ex
hibition, and, in a pleasant way, contributing to a noble
And patriotic cause. As the Fair will remain open but a
few days longer, we hope that the time will be well im
proved by titoae of our citizens who have not yafc paid It
ft Tint. The ladies who have given it such faithful at*
tention, and others engaged in this enterprise, deserve
4hat the result of their efforts shall be a great success.

Pure Old Liquors for Medicinal Pur
*oBKB —Mr. C. H. Mattson, dealer in fine groceries, Arch
and Tenth streets, has new on hand a choice line of jier
fecilypure such aa may be recommended with
safety for medicinal purposes. His best old Brandy is
equal to any Imported, and the same fa true of his Fort,
Madeira, and Sherry Wines. The pressure of public
sentiment ainoDg the best families of our city, a large
number of which are Mr. M.te customers, has induced
him to introduce this is n yerimkoent feature in hIS bust*

Philadelphia and Pulaski. General
Hunter lias done well in the affair below SavAnnah*
but he has been eclipsed, in one respect, by a Philadel

SPECIAL NOTICES.
Have You a Cough?
Then use JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT. Do not allow
your cold to take its own course. Two thirds of the vic
tims of consumption owe their afflictions to the fatal mis*
take of « waiting for a cough to get well of itself.” Do
not fall into this error, but avail yourself at once of a
remedy which thirty years’ experience has demonstrated
is certain to procure a speedy cure.
HAVE YOU ASTHMA OB PHTHISIS T
Then use JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT, which will
overcome the spasmodic contraction of the wind tabes,
and cause them to eject the mucous or matter which
clogs them UP) and by an easy and free expectoration re
moyc all difficulty of breathing.
HAVE YOU BRONCHITIS 1
Then use JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT. This wide
spread disease, which may generally be described as an
Infi&miri&tien of the flue sldn which lines the inside of
the wind tubcß of air vessels, spreading through every
part of the lungs, is often taken for Consumption. The
Expectorant subdues this inflammation, relieves the at
tending cough pain T and difficulty of breathing, and if
the case is not of too long standing, will certainly pro
duce a cure.
HAVE YOU CONSUMPTION 1
Then use JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT. It cleanses
the lungs from all irritating matters, while at the same
time it heals and invigorates them. Of all the remedies
which have been offered to the public for this dread dis
ease, none have stood the teat of time or maintained so
universal a popularity as this Expectorant. Thousand!!
who have been given up by their physicians as incura
ble, have been restored to perfect health by its use, and
their testimony must carry conviction to all who read it.
HAVE YOU PLEURISY?
Then use JAYNE'S EXPECTORANT. By taking
two or three large doses in the early stftgeß of the dis
ease in quick succession, and covert eg up warmly in
bed, this preparation acts as a sudorific or sweating medi-
CtllPj Wld subdues the inflammation at the outset.
HAVE YOU WHOOPING COUGH !
Then use JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT. There is no
remedy which so effectually overcomes this disease as
the Expectorant. What parent can witness the suffer
lags of he* thlldren from this distressing complaint with*
out doing all in her power for their relief ? What medi
cine so pleasant to the taste, or so certain to produce im
mediate benefit ! Give it ft trial, then, and let it prove
its efficacy.
HAVE YOU CROUP !
Then use JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT. Children are
subject to no disease more sudden in its attacks, or, in
the absence of prompt relief, none more fatal in its re
sults thau Croup. Parents, therefore) should keep at
hand a remedy sure and thorough. Such a remedy may
be found in the Expectorant, and every careful mother
will keep a supply by her.
JAYNE’S EXPECTORANT
Is a standard medicine. For thirty years It has been
before the public, and during this period its curative
powers have been testified to by all classes of people In
all quarters of the world. Physicians, clergymen,
lawyers, merchants* and mechanics have experienced its
remedial effects, and have furnished us with their testi
mony, and it may be found at length in our Almanac.
To their convincing certificates we would refer the
doubting.
