lecture in the hands of the patriotic and eloquent divine

have LOticed two cards in this column of tho The Press f

proprietor of a concern at tbe corner of Eighth and

tho sign of "ESHLEHAN & FLETCHER,” with the
word “ iu diminutive letters, over it. The
proprietor of that concern, whoever he may be, has, in the
cards referred to, claimed the concern iu 'juestion to be
The Jayne's-7fall Cravat Stored* Now, as the
“ Jayne’s-Hall Cravat Store” was established by mystify
and continued under my own proprietorship until I re
moved it to inypresent location, at the northivest corner
of SE VENTH and CHESTNUT Streets: and as the
impression that I have any connection whatever with any
bogus concern would be detrimental to my credit among
business men, I wish to disclaim IT. 1 do, therefore,
assert tho insinuation that "the Jayne's*lfaU Cravat
Store ” is any other than my own store, at Seventh and
Chestnut, to be a wicked falsehood.
I have been mortified, also, at having the public led to
suppose that I liai anything to do with the asinine conun
drum, in The Press, about “« mule’s foot! ’ As I have
struggled for several years to establish in Philadelphia a
frat-clflcfl Cravat Store—having eommeneAd ih Jayne's

gratifying success, paying my debts with money instead

OFFICE OF MONUMENT CEMETERY,
IkS Aj’nn. 2, 1862.
At a meeting of the Managers of the Monument Ceme
tery, held this evening, the President having announced
the decease of JOHN M.'GuLEMAN, E«i.. a member
of the Board, which occurred, suddenly, on the evening
of the 01st nit., the following preamble and resolutions
were unanimously adopted:
The death of a friend under ordinary circumstances
is calculated to produce a degree of sa iness of f eeling in
those with whom the deceased has been familiarly in in
tercourse ; but when such, apparently in usual health,
passes suddenly from time to eternity, the degree of sad
ness is much increased and the mind more strongly im
pressed with the solemn admonition thereby given.
The decease ofojjr late friend and associate JOHN M.
COLEMAN, Eea,, under tlie latter circumstance*, white
it produce* reelings or Badness and furnishes sncli sol
emn admonitions, seems to demand of m, his colleagues,
the expression of those feelings in a formal and becoming
manner. Now, therefore.
Resolved, That, while impressed with those feelings,
and acknowledging the admonitions thus conveyed, we
humbly and reverently submit to tbe decrees of Him
whose ways are in*crntable and pußt finding out, in
His dealings with the children of meu.” We, neverthe
less, cannot but mourn the occurrence of an event that
has suddenly deprived us of a courteous associate and
useful member of the Board-one whose kind&eaa we
cherished nnd whose counsel we respected.
Resolved, TJiat we deem it a duty and privilege to
mingle our sincere regrets with those to whom lie was
united and bound by closer aud more endearing ties, and
to tender to them our unfeigned sympathy and kindly
cottdole&ce for the losa they have sustained in tlxis sudden
bereavement.
JRe-'-nived. That, as a mark of our appreciation of his
amiable qualities as a man and as an associate while
living, and our respect for his memiry, we direct these
proceedings to be entered at largo on tli9 minuttg of the
Board, and that the members M ill attend the funeral in
a body.
Resolved, That a copy of the loregoing proceedings,
attested by the officers of the Board, be transmitted to
the family of the deceased, and thr same be published.

BEAD THE FOLLOWING:

Professors Bolles ami Adams, 1220 Walnut street.
Gents. : The remarkable cure which I have derived
from jour method of applying ELECTRICITY, compete
me to thus acknowledge the meat obligations I am Tin.
der to you for snatching me, as it were, from an imme
diate death. About two years ago, while a resident of
Cincinnati, Ohio, 1 was visited with an attack of para
lysis of the lower extremities, which rendored me almost
entirely unable to stand upon my limbs. I employed
snm> of the moat celebrated physicians to bo found in
that section* but received no apparent benefit, and after
a lapse of about .eighteen months was taken with a
spasm, which one of my physicians pronounced a fit of
apoplexy. Two weeks elapsed from that time before I
became tho least conscious of anything that had trans
pired, nor could I concentrate my mind or converse upon
any subject withont becoming very visionary and ex
cited, until I placed myself under your valuable treat
ment.
While in Ohio, and after my friends, my family, and
myself had forsaken all hopes of my improvement or re
eovary, my wife proposed that a visit to the East might
possibly benefit me, and after consulting with our physi
cian on the subject, obtained his consent and approval.
After iny arrival in Philadelphia my attention was called
to your treatment by a pamphlet handed me by my
father, which contained tbe names of some gentlemen
whom I had been formerly acquainted with, and whose
statements I could reply upon. I immediately mad© up
my mind to place myself under your treatment. I have
now been the recipient of four treatments, and I now
feel perfectly satisfied that I am restored to a sound con
dition, and I therefore feel it my duty to gratefully
a r Knowledge tbe benefits which I bare received through
your treatment.
N. B —Professor C. 11 BOLLES, who is well known
to the literary rfnd scientific world as the discoverer and
founder of an entire new mode of applying Galvanism,
Magnetism, and other modifications of Electricity, baa
b«en in this city nearly three years/at 1220 Walnut
street,) testing his new discovery, in ail of it* varieties,
on over FOUR THOUSAND INVALIDS, many of
whom he has warranted* by special contract, and, sur
prising as it may appoar, he has not failed in a single
warranted case,
From tho commencement of Professor B.’s prac
tice he has published certificates of cures daily of most
obstinate maladies, which had resisted all other treat
ment. Prof. B. has also irsued a pamphlet containing
complimentary resolutions and certificates from medical
men In nearly all the cities in the United Btates; and in
the same pamphlet be has cautioned the sick against
trusting their lives and health in the hands of those in
this city claiming to treat according to his new disco
very of the Electrical Polarities of the Brain and
Nervous System. This caution may seem severe on
those using Electricity at hazard, but it is the soverity
of truth, nnd is designed for the good of hnmanity.
