PANT—AnnuaI Meeting of the Stockholders.—ln com
pliance with the act of incorporation, the annual meeting
, of the stockholders was held at the office of the company,
Sixth and Wood streets, on Monday morning, January
13, at 10 o'ilock. The meeting was numerously attended.
Among those present were a number of the largest stock
holders. The meeting was organized by Mr. John 11.
brbi eri requesting Mt. C 11941. Stokes to act as chairman,
and tie. Gee. W: llall as secretary. The president, Mr.
John IL Dohnert, In addressing the etockholdere, stated
in part the condition and security of the company, say

ineetings -to attend in which they were also intermted;
abut he requested their attention to an examination of the
statement submitted, prepared by himself, shooing tho

the Executive Committee, who have investigated the

Spring Garden Fire - Insurance Company, for the year
1801, teems more tLan heretofore to warrant the public
confidence, which is rapidly placing it among the prowl
bent offics a of the city. both in respect to Its assets and
annual amount of business. The president of the corn
3fany, with a commendable milliogness, submits to the
stockholders the nwet full, clear, and specific statement
of the liabilities, assets, condition, and transactions,
without any concealment or prevarication. In fact, ho
relies in the faith that the widest puolicity given to the
company's affairs is the eureat road to public confidence.
And the officers and directors feel convinced that

ment, for that has been the cause of the company's late

The statements submitted bring up the condition of the

this city, having failed or refused the payment of their
'abilities—reflecting the true character of our citizens
v,ho are interested in them. Frequent losses had over
taken theta, and had impaired their capital, but never
had they dosed their doors, and tee) should, as they
justly deserve, receive the eupaot at our merchants and
