more attractions for ladies of taste to visit than the Flower
and Fettllior Emporium of Messrs- Kennedy) No. 7 - J9
Chestnut Street. Although they keep the choicest line of
Millinery articles generally, they have made Flowers and
Feathers so marked a speciality that no one thinks of
buying a fine article in that lino without first examining
their stock. The unusually fate prices at which they are
now selling are the subject of general rtrnark among thoir
customers. They have now on hand a beautiful invoice

Fine Groceries. — ln every large city there
is found some leading first-class store in the various de
partments of trade. The representative of that class in
this city, in the grocery business, we take the liberty to
remark, is the store of Mr. 0. 11. MalUon, corner of
Arch and Tenth streets. In saving this wc arc reminded
that he has now on hand a fresh supply of dried and
pressed ginger, raisins and citron, all of the fino Equality,
to suit first-class trade.

The Case of General Fremont.—There

SPECIAL NOTICES,
The Shooting Stars.
BY TUB HARD OP TOWSR HALS..
In (he middle of November,
When the nights aredarkand chill,
Many a time, as I remember,
Seated on a certain hiN,
I have seen tho skies all brightened
With a moat surprising glare;
Seemed to me those skies had lightened,
But no thunder-cloud was there.
From the zenith there were streaming
Corrascations fiery red,
And the spangles, wildly gleaming,
Formed a canopy o’erliead;
Formed a canopy amazing.
Sparkling as with many a gem,
Like the diamond clusters blazing
On some Eastern diadem.
Soon that glorious exhibition
V ill again delight our eyes;
Nature grants a free admission
To behold her prodigies.
But, bolore you view those splendor j,
At the chilling midnight hour,
FU yourself with good apparel,
Warm apparel, from the « Tower.”
