CITY IT EMS.
Ko More Harper’s Ferry Flour.—As
the Flour of this brand is now entirely out of the market,
Mr. C. 11. Mattson, dealer in line Groceries, Arch and
Tenth street?, has secured fin article that is euually de.
Biiablo In every respect.
We have frequently referred to the
ability of Dr. Kennedy, the eminent Chiropodical Sur
geon of this city. We again reiterate our suggestion,
and would advise all those afflicted with those pests, such
as corns, bunions, inverted nails, enlarged joints, swelled
insteps, ghilblttiUEi frosted feet, and clolsities, to seek hi*
aid. Sis success in complicated cases lias been so great
as to give him a world-wide reputation. During his re
sidence in England, some time ago, so many sufferers
were cured under his treatment as to call the most flat
teringnotices from even the London rimes.
We cordially commend Dr. Kennedy as ft gentleman of
character, professional knowledge, ability, and expe
rience, and we hope his success will be such as to repay
for liis years of study. Cull, you sufferers; his office is
901 Filbert street.
Lectures on Poetry, Literary Art, &c.
—Prof. Hiram Cor«m will glv<» tl>« Introductory lecture
of his course at Concert Hall, this afternoon, at 4 o’clock.
For the gratification of the public his first locture will be
fret. Prof. Corson proposes to give a course of lectures
on poetry, literary art, and criticism, which will no
doubt be highly entertaining and instructive. His course
will embrace fifty lectures extending over a period of
twenty-five weeks. As his charge for the entire course
is only five dollars, they will no doubt be well attended.
The November Meteors.— Star gazers say
the period from the 11th to the 14th of November will
probably be distinguished by remarkable numbers and
displays of these brilliant and erratic visitants, called
meteors. November fa the time when they are moat
abundant, and when people are thinking about providing
themselves with good and substantial fall and winter
garments, which they can do with satisfaction and nt a
trifling cost, at the mammoth clothing establishment of
Granville Stokes, 609 Chestnut street. A superior as
sortment of military garments also for sale, on equally
f6A4;6xi&blo terms.
Major General McClellan.—Everybody
knows that - the gallant young Commander-in-chief of the
Union forces is a'Philadelphia boy. His native city is
not unmindful of her distinguished offspring, for on
Saturday a Committee of City Councils presented him &t
Wflyhillfttolk U-ith A magnificent sword, that llUd t)I*CU
voted him by our City Fathers. The occasion was Phila
delphia all over. The sword was of Philadelphia work
manship, the donors aud the recipient were all Philadel
