In the money market, according to the words of
a leading banker, "money is plenty and credit
dear " The paper of •parties whose credit is un
doubted sells freely at 10 to 12 per cent; that of
those who are the subjects of doubt or mistrust
oaniot be sold it all. There would have been a
heavy movement of oapital into sound stooks had
it net been alleged by the unsatisfactory news
from the South. As it is, such a movement is only
suspended. -

SAD DEATII.—A son of Rev. Mr. Muzzoy,
missionary to India, wko is now in this country,
died recently at Middlebury, Vetmont, where he
ands sister were receiving an education, under dr
octuudanaes of peculiar sadness He was returning
from sehool*A4 was thrown down and jumped upon
by bis companions. He wont home, complained
bat little, and then of his back. He retired earlier
than usual, and after being in bed awhile the sister
went into his room to see if he was properly cover
ed up. - He was awake, and on her retiring said,
"Good night, sir " In the morning he was found
dead. A post-mortem examination showed his
death Whim resulted from internal bleeding, two
blood vassals being found ruptured. A largo and
Were brul-e was also found upon one aide.
Tax PArararro.—The palmetto is donned as
a cabbage tree. It attains the height of forty or
fifty test, and is the tallest of our palms. The
summit is crowned with a tuft of loaves varying in
ling* .and breadth from one to five feet, whioh
gives it a majestio appearance. Flowers small,
greenish, and disposed in long °linters. Fruit about
as large ,as a pea, inesculent: . Wood of no value
except for the construction of wharves. In short,
it is as nearly worthless as a tree can well be. Its
height, its "majesty" and flaunting pride have
probably commended' it to the favor of the chivalry.
Tunas is quite an "irrepressible conflict"
among the Missouri militia, that made the late
mareh to the southwestern border and came back
main. After one- duel growing out of it, Col. J.
F. Snyder has now had his bead out off by the
Governor, for saying that the expedition was all a
faroe. The expedition bee cost the State treasury
between $4OOO and $50,000, and that is the only
substantial malt.
Paerno Thartatoen.—The southwest branch
of this road has been completed to Rolla, the county
sent of Phelps county, one hundred and fifteen
miles, from St. Louis, leading directly Into the
mineral regions of southwest Missouri. Oa the

and ninety miles from Bt. Louis, leaving ninety.

Reporter , learns that orders for the South continue
o be received by the oboe manufacturers of that
city. One Seta have received two orders within a
week or so from the very hot-bed of the commo
tion, and they have just oompleted another, which
ill now awaiting transportation.
GALLANT CONDUCT OP AN AMERICAN SHIP
XASTER.—Capt 'Nott, of the ship Don Quixote,
on hie lout voyage from China, rescued the orew
of the British ship Clyde, for whisk the British
Government have sent him an elegant end vain -
abbe gold watch, and a sum of money to pay for
the inhabitance of the men while on boird his
•easel.
OZDZIIED TO Lgsvz.—Simon F. Noyes, for
two 'sera a resident of Mempble, TOtOIOIIBOO, but
formerly a resident of Jersey City, was ordered to
leave the State of Tennessee a few days ago, owing

clivities. A seaman, from Maine, has been. sr
naiad in King and Queen county, Virginia, for
tampering with staves.

instaciri of the Forty-fifth Anniversary of the Bonder
&horde of St. Paul's Church, Third street, below Wel
itt, was held on last Sunday afternoon. The church
was crowded to ha utmost capacity. There were ore.
omit, bullies, the rector, Rey. Dr. Newton, Bishop
Potter, and Rees. Carroll and Allen.
The exerolses were commenced by the singing of the
anthem,
"Hark the song of Jubilee,
Loud as mighty thunders roar,"l
accompanied by the full ohoir and organ.
A selection of Collects wall then read by the assistant
minister. Rev. Wm. R. Carroll. This was followed by
the infant school singing the hymn.
" We're marching to the promise! land,
A land all fair and bright."
After another hymn there was a sermon by the reo
ecier•founded upon the fifth chapter of the Book of
Canticles, and the first verse—" I am come into MY
garden."
After another hymn, commenc*g, "Speed the glad
tiding far over the soa," the names of the classes
were announced. and one member tram each proceeded
to the chancel; bearing the missionary offerings of the
Mir. each Masa is a missionary aasociation in itself,
and bears the name of some one whose life has been
devoted to Christian service. Among these names
we noticed those of Livingstone. J mime, Henry Mar
tin. Bishop Payne. Bishop White. John Williams,
Dudley A. Tyng. Zlnzendorf, Wm. Wiiberforoo, and
others. Ruh Mass bad also accompanied Its offering
with one of the titles applied to the Saviour in the
Bible, which were further illustrated by texts of Scrip
•tare and appropriate verses. We quote the following:

shall be payable to the Register of Water Roots, at his
office, annually,
IN ADVANCE,
SECOND MONDAY OF JANUARY;
And upon all Water Rents unpaid upon the Feat day of
April in any year, there shall be charged the sum of
FIVE PER GENTUM ; and upon all Rents unpaid on
the Fire day of July, in any your, there shall be charged
