rpHB AMALGAMATION OF LAN-
J- GUAGBA—There- is a ( growing tendency in this
age. to appropriate the most expressive words of other
languages, and after a while to incorporate them into
our own; thus the word Cephalio, which is from the
Greek, signifying “for the head,” is now becoming
popularised in connection with Mri Sp&ldibg's great
headaohe remedy, but it will soon be used in a more
general way, and the wort Cephalio<will, beoome as
oommon £s Electrotype and ih&ny others whose dis
tinction as foreign words has been worn away,-by
oommon usage, until they teem “ nitlve and to the
manor born.”

S7* Hkadaciib is the favorite sign by which nature
makes known any deviation whatever from the natural
state of the brain, and, viewed in this light, it may be
looked on as a safeguard intended to give notioe of dis
ease which might otherwise escape attention, till too
late to be remedied ; and its indications should never
be neglected. Headaohos may be classified under tto
names, viz: Symptomatic and Idiopathio. Symptomatic
Headache is exooedingly oommon, and is the precursor
of & great variety of diseases, among which are Apo
plexy,Gont, Rheumatism, and all febrile diseases. In
its nervous form it is sympathetic of disease of the
stomaoh, constituting sick headache , of hepatic disease
constituting iiltoNS headache, of worms, constipation,
and other disorders of the bowels, as woll as renal and
uterine affections. Diseases of the heart are very fre
quently attended with heodaohes; amcmiaand plethora
are also affeotions whloh frequently occasion head
ache. Idiopathic headache is also vory common, being
usually distinguished by the name of nervous headache*
; sometimes coming on suddenly in a state of appa
rently sound hoalth, and prostrating at onoo the mental
and physioal onergiea, and in other instances it oomes
.on slowly, heralded by depression of spirits or aoerbity
of tempor. In most instances the pain is in the front
of the head, over one or both eyes, and sometimes pro
voking vomiting; under this clasa may alao be named
Neuralgia,
For the treatment of either class of hoadaolie the Ce
phalio. Pills have been found asure and safe remedy,
relieving the most aouto pains in a few minutes, and,
by its subtle power', eradicating the diseases ofwhioh
headaohe is the unerring index.
•Bridge*.—Missus wonts you to send her a box of Ce
phalio G'ue; no, a bottle of Prepared Pills—but I’m
' thinking that’s not just it naither; but perhaps ye 1 )! be
afther knowing what it is. Ye see she's nigh dead and
gone with the Siok Hoadaphe, and wants some more of
that same as relaived her before, •'
. Druggie.—You must moan Spalding’s. Cephalio
Pills.
Bridget,— Ooh! sure now and you've sed it.- -Hero’s
the quarther, and giv me the Pills, and don’t be all day
about it, aither.
Constipation or Costiveness*
No one of the “ many ills flesh is heir to’’ is so pre
valent, so little understood, and so much negleotedas
Cosbveness, often originating in carelessness, or se
dentary habits. It is regarded as a slight disorder, of
too UHie consequence to exoite anxiety, while m reali
ty it is the precursor and oompanion of many of the
most fatal and dangerous diseases, and unless early
eradioated, it will bring the sufferer to an untimely
grave. Among tho lighter evils of which Costiveness
is the usual attendant are Headaohe, Colic, Rheuma
tism, Foul Breath, Piles, and others of like nature,
while a long train of frightful diseases, such as Malig
nant Fevers, Abcesiei, Dysentery, Diarrhoea, Dyspep
sia, Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysis, Hysteria. Hypo
ohondriasife, Melancholy, and Insanity, first indicate
their presence in the system by this alarming symptom.
Not unfrequently the diseases named originate in Con
stipation, but take on an independent existenoo unloss
the oause .is eradioated. in an early stage. From all’
these considerations, it follows that the disorder should
receive immediate attention whenever it ooours. and
no person should neglect to get a box of Cephalic Pills
on the first appearance of the complaint, ns their time
ly use will expel the insidious approaches of disease,
and destroy this dangerous fee to human life.
A Real Blessing.
Pkytician,— Well, Mrs, Jones, how is that headaohe ?
Mrs Jones,— Gone! Doctor, all gone! the pill you sent
cured me in Just twei.ty minutes, and I wish you would
send me more, so that I can have them handy.
Physician.— You can get them at anylDraggist’s. Call
for Cephalio Pills. I find they never fail, and I reoom
raend them in alloases of Headaohe.'
Mrs. Jones.—l shall send for a box directly, and shall
tell all my suffering friends, for thoy are a real Ifeyriag.
Twxktt Millions of Dollabs sated.— Mr. Spald
ing has sold two millions of bottles of his celebrated
Prepared Glue, and it is estimated that eaoh bottle
saves at least ton dollars* worth of brokemfarnltnre,
thusmakmg &n aggregate of twenty millions of dollars
reclaimed from total lose 'by this valuable inventioh*
Having made his Glue a household word, he’ now pro
poses to dd the world still greater service by onnqg all
the aching heads with his Cephalio PiUs,and if they are
as good as his Gltie, Headaches will soon vanish away
like enowin July. •
Oran excithmbnt, and the mental oare and anx
iety inoldent to.olose attention to business or study, bro
among the numerous causes of Nervous Headsohe. The
disordered etate of mind and bodi inoident to this dis
tressing ooraplaint, is a fatal biow to all energy and am
bition. Sufferers by this disorder oan always obtain
speedy'relief from these distressing attacks'by using
one of the Cephalio Pills whenever the symptome ap
pear. It quiets the overtasked brain, and soothes tho
strained and jarring serves,,and relaxes the tension of
the itojuaoh whioh always accompanies and aggravates
the disordered condition of the brain,
Fact worth kmowikg,— Spalding’s Cephalic Filin
are a certain ours for Siok Headache, Bilious Head
ache, Nervous fleadaoho, Costivoneas, and General
Debility,
Great Discovert.— Among the most important of
all the great medical discoveries of this age may be
considered the system of vaccination for protection
from Small Pox, the Cephalio Pill for relief of Head
ache, and the use of Q,umine for the prevention of
Pavers, either of whioh is a sure specific, whode bene
fits willbe experienced by suffering humanity long after
their disooverers are forgotten.
KT Dm you ever have the Siok Headaobe l Do you
remember the throbbing temples, the fevered brow, the
loathing and disgust at the sight of food? How.totally
unfit you were for pleasure, conversation, or atudy. One
of the Cepbilio Pills would Lave relieved you from all
the suffering whioh yon then ezpenenoed. For this and
