The Money Market.

; lh« stoic, market was lively and active to-day,
in sympathy with that of New York, which; it is al
leged,!* elated with a prospect ot tbesaooesi of the
rail on electoral ticket to-morrow. In this city,
where directly the contrary expectation prevails
■ in. moheyed circles, the improvement of the New
York stooks was nevertheless accompanied by a
rise here, founded upon the settled conviction that
all the noise about-di«nnlon.''Jßi mere noise. The
'Lears' are fearful, too, that they may overdo the
matter, and think it best to reverse their plana,
and go to balling the market.
We dropped in, or rather,' attempted to get into
the room in Sansom-etreet Ball where the sheriff
was holding his tale this afternoon. Ihe room
was packed to its utmost capacity, and the bid
ding was very spirited. Some of the oldest con
yeyancers there stated that they could not remem
ber a larger attendance at an ordinary sheriff 7 *
sale, and. to; toy one who listened to the bidding
for anything like a fair piece of property, one
might try in -rain to argue that there was either a
scarcity of money among the people or any serious
apprehensions of trouble ahead.
The bank statement shows the result of the con
traction of the beginning, of last week, in a large
decrease of loans, and of the amount due to otlxe*
banks and of specie. These last two items, in this
ease, probably go together. The deposits, it will
be seen, bave decreased.

corresponding period lest year; being an increase
of 150 681 tons of coal to date. 1,661 toes of pig

that Mr. Lincoln elope has any chance of being ohogen
President by the people. If he does pot get the vote o*
this Stats, the eleotion must be made by Congress. Th*
only way then, to forestall a winter of disaster* and to se
cure political and oommeroial tranquillity, is to givo oar
inflaenoa and hearty support to insure his suocess. A
large and overwhelming majority willoarry cot only

provements ot tho age, and meets with the unqualified
approbation of all who have seen it in operation. It will
take Hocks out of tho earth of Five Tons Weight, or
less. Without digging to roneve them, with groat ease
And rapidity, and they oan bo drawn from the field
without unloading, and placed into a well five feet high.
After the rooks are fitted for tho hooks, whioh is done
by drilling two holes about three-fourths of an inch
deep in opposite Bides of the rook, the Machine, with a
fair ohanoe, two men, two pairs of oxen and a driver,
will take out and drop upon the ground, pear the holes,
ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ROCKS IN TEN
HOURS,
and, as tho Rocks are hoisted by Ox or Hotso power,
there is no hard lifting for tee men, and it is easy work
for the team. With one of these Machines, any man
b4 v ing a rooky farm can well.atl’ord to clear it,as it
pan be done for less than ono-ouirter of the oost of do*
in* it in the ordinary way. Tho Machines are easily
operated, and not liable to be broken or iniurod. We
