recent extension and irnproPements, is one of the meat
complete and attractive in thin city, and well worthy
the attention of buyers.
SUCCESSFUL MILLINERY OPENll4.—Yesterday,
as our lady readers are aware, was "opening" day at
the popular millinery emporium of Messrs. I inooln.
Wood, and Nichols, N 0.766 Chestnut street. we had
occasion to refer to their spring opening as a decided
snoceos, but, in perfect keeping with the well-under
stood progressite character of this old-established
house, their winter opening yesterday was an improve
meat upon any of their former demonstrations, and
may, in foot, be said to have surpassed anything in the
shape of a millinery opening that has occurred in this
city for yenta. The variety and elegance of the bon
ne's and bonnet materials exhibited, and the superior
taste evinoed, no less in the goneril display than in the
minutest details of grace and fashion. were the subject
of universal comment by the throng of ladies who at
tended. To those who were not so fortunate as to assist
at the opening, we mar say that they have a real treat
yet in store, as the enormous stook, whioli they are
daily' enriching with add, Penal novenae, is, we shou'd
think, inexhauetib e, and will be found superior, in
point of style and beauty, to, perhaps any other in this
country.
Coca, INPUDENOI.—We have to record one of the
'molest and moat refreshing pieces of impudence that it
has fallen to our lot to notice for come time poet. We
refer to the consummate ease and grace h which the

thing, we cannot refrain from an expression of sato
niehment at the deliberate impertinence of the New
Yorkers, in interfering with the arrangements of re

"THE HOUSEHOLD 01? BOUVERIE"
Is not a sensation authoress, but a
PROPOUND STUDENT OF HUMAN NATURE.
She hears a vole* 'crying unto her—Write: and that.
in obeying the impulse, she does so from high motives,
with noble temighta to express, with true doctrines t..
advocate, believing that she has a minion to fulfil, and
devoting all her energies to the task. v v 9he
style of the novel is dramatic, but not exaggerated; its
Eng.ish is pure, and asell disfigured by effeetationa or at
tempts at novel p4ziology • its personages 'peak
according to the p s which move them, but they
always speak nature' 7. The romance of erati•day
life can be matured without an adm x,ture of tie gro•
tongue, or the turgid in the coloring, alid this bun been
done,
